Following the successful XDefiant closed beta, the game’s appearance at Ubisoft Forward confirms plans for the XDefiant Year 1 roadmap. Eager to sit alongside some of the best FPS games, producer Mark Rubin reveals how XDefiant continues to expand on the various XDefiant factions, as well as taking on Modern Warfare 2 with one key promise for the game’s maps.
Ahead of the XDefiant release date on PS5 and Xbox, the XDefiant Year 1 roadmap is set to drop the following content over 12 months:
- 12 new XDefiant weapons
- 12 new XDefiant maps
- 1 battle pass per season (90 tiers per pass, 360 tiers in total)
- 4 new XDefiant factions
With Rubin confirming a new map “every month” from the game’s launch, XDefiant is already giving Call of Duty cause for concern, as opposed to the usual wait for an update like the Modern Warfare 2 Season 4 release date.
The upcoming additions to the XDefiant factions roster are currently codenamed Ruby, Buzz, Orchard, and Horde. Backed by “ongoing work to keep the competition fair”, the competitive shooter is intent on making the game approachable for newcomers with a “welcome list for beginners” and “practice zones” to refine your handling with the best XDefiant guns.
Each faction is said to be “meta-changing” according to Rubin, ensuring each of the XDefiant game modes will be kept fresh along the way. Could we see a spin on Assassin’s Creed make its way into the game? We’d love to see XDefiant classes that use the iconic Hidden Blade. Over 1 million players dove into the XDefiant closed beta, but the fun is just getting started.
If you’re still waiting to try out one of many upcoming PS5 games for 2023, then you’ll be glad to know that the XDefiant open test session will occur from Wednesday, June 21, 2023, until Friday, June 23, 2023.
