This might sound a little hyperbolic, but Insomniac Games’ Spider-Man 2 really does have the potential to be one of the best PS5 games yet; in fact, it could very-well be one of the best games for consoles, regardless of platform. From 2018’s Spider-Man to 2020’s Spider-Man Miles Morales, this series has gone from strength to strength and this seems set to continue when the Spider-Man 2 release date rolls around.
However, there are some drawbacks. Sure, it’s a good thing that we’re going to be able to meet new Spider-Man 2 characters while we’re going toe-to-toe with a wider selection of Spider-Man 2 villains than ever, all while exploring entire new areas of NYC with the updated Spider-Man 2 map, but PS5 players are going to need quite a bit of storage space to accommodate all of this.
Those of you with your Spider-Man 2 pre-orders ready to go might already know all of this, but the Spider-Man 2 pre-load period starts on October 13 – which is really quite close – and the Spider-Man 2 file size is roughly 100 GB – which is a lot. To put that into some frame of reference, your PS5 console only comes with 825 GB of storage space and the current Call of Duty experience takes up a whopping 197 GB. It’s also as much as Spider-Man Remastered and Spider-Man Miles Morales combined.
It’s also worth remembering that this file size is only a minimum storage space requirement. Insomniac Games hasn’t mentioned a ‘Day One Patch’ update just yet, but we could very well see this grow even more by the time you start swinging around the city. There could also be some post-launch DLC to look forward to, which is something you will need to account for in the coming months.

It looks absolutely stunning, and Insomniac Games is a studio that consistently delivers excellent experiences.
