All Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 villains

Peter and Miles’ rogue gallery is always expanding, so here are the Spider-Man 2 PS5 villains that you’ll have to deal with in the latest PS5 game.

Spider-Man 2 PS5 villains: Venom and Sandman standing side-by-side in the Spider-Man 2 PS5 game

Who are the Spider-Man 2 PS5 villains? Spider-Man is iconic, but his villains are just as famous, with masterminds like Doc Ock and not-as-clever creatures like Venom attempting to complete their evil plans. That means you’re probably wondering who the Spider-Man 2 PS5 villains you’ll be taking on this time around.

We had to take on numerous threats to New York City during our Spider-Man 2 PS5 review, and considering it’s one of the best games, let alone one of the best PS5 games, we’ve played, traveling to beat down a villain is always a lot of fun. Here are some of the biggest you’ll find in this exquisite addition to the list of PS5 exclusives.

It’s worth noting that we aren’t including extensive entries for (most) villains that make only minor appearances – whether voice notes or post-credits – and there are some spoilers littered throughout each entry. So make sure to bookmark this guide and come back later after checking the list if you do want the full details on each villain!

Here are all of the Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 PS5 villains:

Spider-Man 2 PS5 villains: Sandman boss fight in Spider-Man 2 PS5

Sandman

Flint Marko, better known as his sand-slinging alter-ego Sandman, is the first villain you’ll face in the game. In this game, he’s a monstrous size capable of demolishing entire buildings with one slam of the fist, but he’s no match for our wall-crawling duo.

He plays a major role in the open world activities, however. After your fight with Sandman, crystals will land across New York City, and you’ll need to collect them to help Sandman return to normal during his long-term stay at the Raft.

Spider-Man 2 PS5 villains: Mr. Negative in Kraven's arena in Spider-Man 2 PS5 game

Mr. Negative

Mr Negative was a major antagonist in the first Insomniac Games Spider-Man title, leading a gang called the Inner Demons. He’s capable of turning people’s darkest thoughts and fears into ways of mind-controlling them, gathering an army of unwilling criminals. He was also the killer of Miles’ father in the first game, too.

During the early parts of the game, Mr. Negative escapes from the Raft after Kraven attacks the boats. It’s up to you to find out where he’s gone.

Spider-Man 2 PS5 villains: Kraven in Spider-Man 2 PS5 game

Kraven

Kraven Kravinoff, Kraven the Hunter, or Kraven (depending on what he wants you to call him) is a big game hunter, who instead of capturing animals, decides to take on the superheroes and villains of New York, in an attempt to find out who can be his biggest challenge.

He’s the reason Mr. Negative and Scorpion escape from the Raft, and he’s after Peter and Miles too. He certainly isn’t going to go down without a fight as he seeks out only the worthiest of opponents.

Spider-Man 2 PS5 villains: Black Cat in Spider-Man 2 PS5

Black Cat

Less so a villain now, Black Cat (or Felicia Hardy) is a master thief and an ex-fling of Peter Parker (only as Spider-Man). She is one of Kraven’s targets during his time in New York, and she’s looking for an incredibly ancient and magical artifact, the Wand of Watoomb.

She doesn’t make a major appearance during Spider-Man 2, but her mission during the game is certainly a fun one. We’ve broken our entry rule here by including her but, c’mon, it’s Black Cat.

Spider-Man 2 PS5 villains: Lizard in boss fight in Spider-Man 2 PS5 game

Lizard

Another of Kraven’s targets, Curt Connors is a scientist who attempted to use reptile DNA to bring back his severed arm. However, he becomes the Lizard instead, with Peter Parker curing him before the events of the first game.

With Kraven looking for a true beast to fight, he drugs Curt Connors with a stronger dose of the serum, turning him into a much more monstrous version of the Lizard than Peter has ever faced.

Spider-Man 2 PS5 villains: Venom holding Spider-Man by the head in Spider-Man 2 PS5 game

Venom

The main antagonist of the game, Venom is a huge pairing between a character (no spoilers here) and a symbiote. He’s capable of extremely powerful feats, like jumping miles with little effort, defeating hundreds of armed soldiers, and more.

He plays a major role in the third act of the game especially, and if you don’t mind major spoilers, you can find out who is Venom in Spider-Man 2 PS5 here.

Spider-Man 2 PS5 villains: Quentin Beck (Mysterio) in front of his Mysterium in Spider-Man 2 PS5 game

Mysterio

Quentin Beck, formerly the master illusionist Mysterio, is one of Peter’s most iconic villains, typically seen with a fishbowl-like head. In Spider-Man 2, Quentin runs a chain of entertainment venues called Mysteriums, using his illusion technology as a business venture instead of criminal reasons.

As Miles, you’ll need to attempt the challenges in each of the Mysteriums across New York City in order to save civilians trapped in the malfunctioning venues, all while uncovering the mystery of why these venues are going haywire.

Spider-Man 2 PS5 characters: Cletus Kasady as The Flame in Spider-Man 2 PS5

The Flame

The Flame, the leader of the Cult of the Flame, is better known to comics readers as (spoilers) Cletus Kasady, the original host of the Carnage symbiote. In most stories, Cletus is a serial killer who gets the Venom symbiote combined with his blood, creating Carnage. However, Insomniac seems to be giving Cletus his own twist in this version of Spider-Man.

As the leader of a murderous cult, it’s pretty clear that the twist in question is pretty… twisted. Kasady is completely devoid of any form of common morality and wields his followers as an extension of his own sadistic desires.

Spider-Man 2 PS5 villains: Scream in Spider-Man 2 PS5 game

Scream

Scream is another offspring of Venom, created after the symbiote fuses with (spoilers, again) Mary-Jane. Yes, that Mary-Jane, Peter’s long-term girlfriend. Venom turns her into the Scream villain during a mission later in the game, but MJ is quickly pulled out of the symbiote thanks to Peter’s help (after a bit of a boss fight).

Similar to Venom and Carnage, Scream has had numerous hosts in the comics before, so it’s possible that Scream could make a return in the future.

Minor appearances

Other villainous appearances beyond the main list include Aaron Davis (Prowler), Scorpion, Vulture, and Electro. However, all of these villains have minor appearances during the game. Kingpin, Rhino, and Taskmaster are mentioned only in passing as some of Kraven’s Great Hunt targets.

While Aaron Davis does have a side quest, he’s just himself and has left the Prowler life behind. Now hoping to reconcile with Miles and sister-in-law Rio, Davis is looking to his nephew to help him clear away any sign of his previous life.

Scorpion, meanwhile, is anything but reformed. After being attacked by Kraven’s Hunters during a prison transfer, the antagonistic arachnid attacks the Spider-Men before getting out of dodge. However, Kraven won’t let him go that easily and appears to know a surprising amount about his potential prey…

As with Scorpion, both Vulture and Electro are caught up in the attack on the Raft. As potential targets for Kraven, the Hunter has done his homework on the pair, and it looks like he’s more than prepared to take both on in glorious combat.

Elsewhere, Chameleon – revealed to be Kraven’s half-brother – has been keeping tabs on the Hunters while trying to avoid them like the plague. Although he never directly interacts with Spider-Man, he keeps a characteristically low profile while observing him from afar, plotting his own scheme against Peter. We’re expecting big things from Spider-Man’s oldest foe in the probable Marvel’s Spider-Man 3.

Finally, there is one more very important post-credits cameo from one of the franchise’s most iconic villains, Doc Ock, and Octavius could very well be a linchpin in setting the scene for the sequel, should it materialize.

Those are all of the Spider-Man 2 PS5 villains, and as you can see, they take up a major chunk of the Spider-Man 2 PS5 characters list.
