MW3 is making playing the objective easier than it’s ever been before

Modern Warfare 3 leaks reveal the ACS field upgrade is coming to multiplayer, equipment that will let you play the objective without playing it on PS5 and Xbox.

We know Call of Duty fans get their hopes up every year, but Modern Warfare 3 may actually be one of the best FPS games this series has presented players with in quite some time. We don’t know too much about MW3 right now, but what we do know about the Modern Warfare 3 multiplayer offering is welcome news. The list of MW3 maps is quite-literally all classics and MW3 Zombies has the potential to be excellent. One thing, though, is the recently-leaked MW3 ACS field upgrade. This is going to let you play the objective without actually playing the objective. Sounds like there’s really no excuse now, is there?

As per reports from renowned Call of Duty leaker ‘TheGhostOfHope‘ online, one of the new MW3 field upgrades you’ll be able to take advantage of in any one of the objective-based MW3 game modes available is the ACS – which we assume stands for Automated Capture System. Using the ACS in-game will, and we quote, “capture objectives for you without needing to be in the objective”.

Explaining this field upgrade a little more, they share that the “ACS counts as an additional player… If one player [and the] ACS are both capturing a Domination flag, the capture rate will be the same as two people”. So, this means you can double-down and regain control of objectives even quicker than normal – if you coordinate with your team, anyway.

In non-objective-based game modes, ‘TheGhostOfHope’ shares that the ACS “can hack enemy equipment”; although, there aren’t any more specifics about how that will work just yet. However, at a glance, it could mean that the effects of the Spotter perk will change – as this can currently be used to hack enemy equipment in Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone.

In this leak, ‘TheGhostOfHope’ also reveals that MW3 players will be able to take advantage of the Comm Scrambler field upgrade (which will keep friendly players within its active area off the radar) and the new Mosquito Drone killstreak (which is a “drone that dive bombs enemy players” – something we’ve seen before).

Is Modern Warfare 3 going to be able to compete with Apex Legends, Valorant, Counter-Strike 2, and more to become the best competitive FPS game out there when it drops? Well, it’s hard to say right now. All of these changes do sound interesting, and the new equipment options sound like a lot of fun to use. However, we just don’t know whether that’s enough – not yet.

Has Call of Duty already convinced you to get this game? You can find out more about the Modern Warfare 3 pre-orders right here. Interestingly, these pre-order bonuses are the key to whether Makarov will survive MW3 or not. There’s nothing wrong with wanting to try before you buy, especially with the Alan Wake 2 release date, Spider-Man 2 release date, Assassin’s Creed Mirage release date, and FC 24 release date all falling within a few weeks of one another.
