Fortunately, we’re here to give you the lowdown on not only how to pay off a bounty in Starfield, but also the Starfield Bounty Clearance Kiosk locations – spoiler, you’re going to need those.

Before we get into it, be sure to read up on the various Starfield factions who may have marked you for dead, as well as the best Starfield weapons and best Starfield ships you’ll want to get your hands on to ensure you can safely get to where you’ll be able to pay off your bounty – more on that below. The instructions in this guide come courtesy of our Starfield review playthrough – even we writers get a little trigger-happy sometimes…

How to pay off a bounty in Starfield

To pay off a bounty in Starfield, access a Trackers Alliance Self-Service Bounty Clearance Kiosk in a star system that isn’t controlled by the faction that’s put the bounty on you. These can be found next to the Mission Boards in major cities across the Settled Systems.

Once accessed, you’ll be able to select which bounty you wish to pay off. As noted above, you won’t be able to clear your bounty in a system you’re wanted in. For example, you can clear a Freestar Collective bounty on one of the Starfield planets in Sol – a United Colonies-controlled system, but not in systems like Cheyenne, Narion, and Volii.

The best and easiest way to clear your bounty is by building your own Self-Service Bounty Clearance Kiosk within your Outpost, as you can fast travel straight to it. To do so, head to the Miscellaneous section while in Build Mode, where you can find the recipe. The build requirements for a Self-Service Bounty Clearance Kiosk are two Zero Wire, two Beryllium, and four Aluminium.
