At last, MW3 now lets Call of Duty players track camos in matches

Perhaps one of the most highly-requested features in Call of Duty history, MW3 now lets you track your weapon camo challenges in-game.

The quest to grind for every MW3 camo can be very time-consuming, but there’s a lot of fun to be had in the process. Weapon skins like Interstellar look superb in the latest Call of Duty game, but it is super annoying checking on your MW3 camo challenges between each match. It has been four years since the Modern Warfare reboot series began, and now, Xbox and PS5 players can finally track their camo grind in-game.

It sounds like a simple solution that could have been implemented years ago, and like you, we’re surprised it hasn’t happened sooner. We would have certainly welcomed it in one of the best FPS games in the franchise, Black Ops Cold War.

Nevertheless, the latest Modern Warfare 3 Season 2 Reloaded patch notes indicate that Sledgehammer Games is adding “the ability to track up to five challenges to view outside the challenge menu” going forward. Additionally, Call of Duty players across Xbox and PS5 can see that “tracked challenges will appear on the in-game pause menu and lobby.”

Next time you boot up Modern Warfare 3, it isn’t immediately apparent how to add camo challenges to your tracked challenges. Luckily for you, we’ve had a play around with one of the best multiplayer games out there, as we’re eager to check some camos off our list too. You’ll need to select one of your best MW3 loadouts, pick your desired weapon, and go to the camo menu. Select the ‘add to tracked’ option, and presto, you can keep tabs on your road to acquiring Interstellar. It really is that easy.

It’s a shame that this feature has been absent for years, and even more disappointing that it is tied to a pretty lackluster seasonal update. While the game’s campaign drew hordes of criticism upon launch, we’ve found that the game’s multiplayer is the strongest it has been in years. Of course, it had the benefit of some excellent maps to kick off with, as the initial roster of MW3 maps is comprised of classic locales from the franchise’s past. Paired with the slickest gunplay and movement in the series yet, it seemed like MW3 multiplayer would have a strong future.

MW3 Zombies remains promising, though, even if it was hindered by some glaring bugs for longer than we’d have liked. It’d be brilliant to see the open world game iteration of COD Zombies venture outside of Uzrikstan and the Dark Aether version of Al Mazrah. We’ve already fought the case as to why the Black Ops 2 map TranZit should be next on Treyarch’s agenda.
