MultiVersus wants you to “stay tooned” for major reveal in a few days

MultiVersus continues to tease a return to PS5 and Xbox, and you’ll need to “stay tooned” for a major reveal for the free-to-play fighter.

MultiVersus was heaps of fun when developer Player First Games initially unveiled the free-to-play fighting game. Sure, it had some aspects to refine, but we were completely in love with its awesome roster of beloved characters from Warner Brothers’ history. Now, the promising fighter is set for a resurrection on Xbox and PS5, and the reveal appears to be extremely close.

In the months since MultiVersus went offline, there have been whispers about the multiplayer game’s fate from very unexpected places. Who’d have thought McDonald’s would signal that the new PS5 game and new Xbox game was preparing for a big comeback? Following a recent tease on social media, MultiVersus is eyeing up Monday, March 11, 2024, to seemingly reveal bigger plans. “Mic check was a resounding success! Calling Tony to set Monday morning at 6am PT. Stay tooned!” the latest MultiVersus social media post reads.

The Tony in question is undoubtedly Tony Huynh, MultiVersus’ game director. Huynh has always been transparent about the game’s development, speaking about improvements and engaging with fans consistently. Additionally, you’ll need to set yourself a reminder to check back in at 6:00 AM PT, 2:00 PM GMT, and 9:00 AM ET. Now, you’ll need to get your tin-foil hat on for a moment, but we’re intrigued about the spelling of “tooned.”

Could this be a playful nod to Looney Tunes, which has been under Warner Brothers’ stewardship since 1930? We already know that Bugs Bunny and other Looney Tunes characters sit within the MultiVersus tier list. It’d be nice to see some other Looney Tunes additions to the game’s roster, but really, there’s only one character that absolutely needs to arrive. This potential reveal event is likely to announce the game’s return to consoles, and should hopefully give us a release date too.

Alongside this call to action for Monday, MultiVersus’ is now officially talking about the aforementioned McDonald’s collaboration. Another post declares that players can expect a Happy Meal crossover in the near future. Now’s the time to start using the McDonald’s app and racking up those reward points. After all, we’ll never say no to a free McFlurry.

If MultiVersus can make its battle pass feel like less of a massive chore, and improve some of its rougher edges performance-wise in the arena, it could well be one of the best fighting games of the year.
