Dave Bautista reveals favorite MK fighters ahead of Mortal Kombat 1

Following his appearance in a throwback MK1 commercial, Marvel star Dave Bautista lays down some of his favorite Mortal Kombat fighter picks.

Returning faces join the roster of Mortal Kombat 1 characters, and no matter whether you’re a hardcore player or a relative newcomer, everyone ends up with a favorite fighter. Guardians of the Galaxy’s own Dave Bautista reveals who he prefers to do battle with, following his appearance in a nostalgic Mortal Kombat 1 commercial. Maybe his picks are the same as yours.

“When I was younger, I liked being Liu Kang because Kang did the bicycle kick and he could also turn into a dragon,” the Marvel star reflects. However, as more Mortal Kombat games have arrived and the star has aged, he has taken a liking to another character: “As I’ve got older, I like Scorpion because I just want to hear him say ‘get over here’. Like a G…get over here!”

On the subject of Mortal Kombat 1 itself, Bautista says that it is “so realistic and lifelike, but still a video game. It’s not that realistic where it feels so real that it’s uncomfortable.”

“I love this [Mortal Kombat] because it directly connects me to my past. So it’s more personal and feels more gratifying. It feels like a dream come true,” Bautista says regarding his appearance in the recent commercial. Whether the Blade Runner 2049 star will continue to main Scorpion remains to be seen, but we’d love to see him try his luck with characters like Smoke, Johnny Cage, and Homelander (when he arrives, that is).

Maybe Bautista himself could appear in the game, whether that is in a full roster capacity, or as a Mortal Kombat 1 Kameo Fighter. While the MCU has had some bleak moments, we doubt that Marvel would sign off on Bautista appearing as Guardians member Drax. But hey, stranger things have happened.

In the meantime, until the Mortal Kombat 1 release date arrives, you can check out The Loadout’s Mortal Kombat 1 preview, where we got to play the game recently at Gamescom. If you like the sound of what the game has to offer, we’ve also made it easy to learn the new batch of Mortal Kombat 1 fatalities.

Aside from Mortal Kombat 1, there are plenty of upcoming PS5 games and upcoming Xbox games to look out for, so don’t hesitate to get your calendar full with new releases.
