Spider-Man 2 is an absolute dream come true when it comes to customizing Peter Parker or Miles Morales. Insomniac Games knocked it out of the park with PS5 hit’s sheer amount of Spider-Man 2 suits, but one iconic costume, in particular, disappointed us all. Thankfully, the latest Spider-Man 2 update restores the brilliance that the Sam Raimi suit deserves.
There are plenty of reasons why Spider-Man 2 is one of the best PS5 games available, from its top-tier storytelling to its best-in-class combat and traversal. However, wearing your favorite Spider-Man 2 suits enhances all that. We’re quite partial to The Amazing Spider-Man 2 suit from Andrew Garfield’s short-lived era, but many of you will find nostalgia in Tobey Maguire’s on-screen iteration. When the once-new PS5 game launched, the costume didn’t exactly look up to the high standards Insomniac usually sets fidelity-wise.
Now, we can finally roam around New York City with a gorgeous, accurate depiction of the suit from Sam Raimi’s beloved Spider-Man trilogy. We’re glad to see that the silver binding of the suit is more subtle while bringing the suit’s color scheme in line with costume designer James Acheson’s vision. This refinement comes alongside other long-awaited features like Spider-Man 2 new game plus, time-of-day changing, and plenty more to keep you busy.
The Raimi suit redesign is going down well with PS5 players, who are delivering some truly incredible in-game captures. Some of the Photo Mode captures are so brilliant, that even Insomniac Games is taking notice by sharing them on its official social media feed.
Although, this fresh update to the incredible open world game did make a massive blunder. If you managed to play it before the hotfix that was issued on Friday, March 8, 2024, then you’ll have had access to the game’s debug menu. This is a tool that Insomniac uses during development to test the game rigorously, allowing you to be invincible and even make Venom playable outside his respective missions.
We’d love to see Insomniac implement some more suits in future updates, given that Spider-Man 2 DLC packs are said to be in the works. A suit based on the PS1 iteration of Spidey from Neversoft would be unreal. However, it might be complicated to get the rights to this from publisher Activision, as Neversoft doesn’t exist anymore.
