The attention to detail with every Spider-Man 2 suit is impeccable, and that applies to Andrew Garfield’s The Amazing Spider-Man 2 costume too. While it may arguably be the greatest Spidey suit to hit the big screen, the PS5 game’s depiction of it is sadly hindered by a bizarre bug. Now, Insomniac Games promises that it will resolve this issue in a forthcoming PlayStation 5 patch.
In a recent social media post, the studio replies to concerns that the fan favorite Spider-Man 2 costume is yet to be improved. Insomniac reveals that players can expect “specifics on that [suit] soon. Our upcoming patch addressing this issue is undergoing checks at the moment.” However, it won’t be rolled out as a quick hotfix for the acclaimed open world game. Instead, the studio clarifies that it is “bundling this fix with other reported issues as well.”
Given that the Spider-Man 2 new game plus patch accidentally made Venom playable, we’re not surprised to see Insomniac take some more time with this upcoming PS5 update. While most of the Spider-Man 2 suits remain unharmed, the ‘TASM2’ suit is currently ruined by a visual bug that severely warps the costume’s lenses – its best feature. Like you, we’re quite privy to getting some Photo Mode snaps of Spidey in action, so it’s a shame this otherwise perfect suit isn’t quite up to scratch.
It isn’t the first time we’ve seen Insomniac tweak Andrew Garfield’s suit, as it has undergone multiple texture changes and color improvements since Spider-Man 2 debuted last year – hopefully this upcoming alteration will be the suit’s last, though. The same level of care has been applied to Tobey Maguire’s on-screen costume, too.
What we’re curious to see is whether Insomniac will address the lack of Spider-Man 2 DLC any time soon. Although the base experience is one of the best PS5 games around, we’re eager to go on more adventures. We still love wing suiting around NYC, and earning the very easy Platinum trophy was a blast, but there are many dangling threads that can be expanded upon.
Between Venom actor Tony Todd claiming only 10% of his lines were used and all those Daredevil and Fantastic Four nods, there are still plenty of rocks left unturned in Peter and Miles’ story. It is likely that last December’s Insomniac Games data breach has impacted the timeline for any potential DLC, but hopefully, a new State of Play presentation could give us the good news we’re after.
In related PlayStation news, this massive Xbox exclusive is setting sail to PS5 soon with over 40 million players currently onboard, and Sony is bringing PlayStation trophies to a new platform thanks to a port of one of its best first-party games.
