It’s safe to say that it’s an exciting time to be a Honkai Star Rail fan; update 1.4 is here with new characters to pull and even more content to explore, and the game itself is finally available on PS5 consoles. While this all means a new chapter of your journey through the cosmos is starting, it also means another few weeks of chasing free Honkai Star Rail Special Passes is upon us. If you’re wondering just how many free Star Rail Special Passes in Honkai Star Rail 1.4 there are for you to earn, one dedicated gacha gamer is using previous updates to make an educated estimate – and you might be surprised at just how many you can get your hands on.
HoYoverse’s cosmic Honkai Star Rail is one of the best RPG games out there right now if you’re looking for something to sink your time into. It’s designed to be an addictive experience and chasing after the best Honkai Star Rail team comp can take you a long time thanks to the ever-changing Honkai Star Rail banner schedule. If you want to make sure you’re taking full advantage of the Honkai Star Rail 1.4 banners and the arrival of Jingliu (someone you really should try to unlock), then you’ll be pleased to know that there’s actually quite a lot of free Star Rail Special Passes up for grabs throughout update 1.4 and the Jolted Awake From A Winter Dream season.
We know we recently highlighted that Honkai Star Rail is giving away free Special Passes alongside the PS5 launch through the limited-time Gifts of Odyssey log-in event, but Redditor ‘Far-Papaya‘ reveals that there’s actually a total of 77 Star Rail Special Passes up for grabs throughout update 1.4 – which is estimated to run from October 11 until November 15. You’re not going to be getting your hands on Star Rail Special Passes as is, though; this is how many you can buy if you earn as much Stellar Jade as you can throughout the season. This means you’re going to have to put the time and effort in, if you want to maximize your earnings and take full advantage of all the opportunities to get Stellar Jade and those elusive Star Rail Special Passes.
Each Star Rail Special Pass will set you back 160 Stellar Jade, and ‘Far-Papaya’ reckons you can earn upwards of 12,250 Stellar Jade throughout update 1.4 – which is a lot.
As you can see below, you’ll be able to earn a total of 2,140 Stellar Jade through limited content like the update 1.4 Aetherium Wars, the Planar Infinity, and various Honkai Star Rail codes that pop up throughout upcoming livestreams.
You’ll also be able to earn a total of 2,145 Stellar Jade through Daily Missions and Daily Messages, 150 Stellar Jade through new achievements, and 80 Stellar Jade through the Hoyolab Daily Check-In rewards. If there’s maintenance (which, let’s be honest, there probably will be), you’ll also be able to net an additional 600 Stellar Jade. All of this and more adds up to a total of 12,280 Stellar Jade; those of you with the Express Pass can also earn an additional 3,780 Stellar Jade and players with Namelss Glory have the chance to get 680 more Stellar Jade.
Throughout all of this, you’ll also see that you can earn five Star Rail Special Passes through the Embers Store and four additional Star Rail Special Passes if you have Nameless Glory. There’s also 300 Stellar Jade up for grabs just for exploring the new areas – which is just 20 Stellar Jade shy of two Star Rail Special Passes alone.
Now, it’s important to keep in mind that this is an estimate; things might be a little different when you jump into Honkai Star Rail yourself. However, these estimates are based on previous seasons of content and HoYoverse does like to keep the cadence of content regular – and predictable enough that these estimates strike us as accurate.
So, if you commit yourself to a few weeks of regular Honkai Star Rail playing, you could be looking at an abundance of Stellar Jade and more than enough Star Rail Special Passes to pull some of the best Honkai Star Rail characters available soon enough.
While Honkai Star Rail leaks signal the arrival of Huohuo as a playable character, we have Jingliu to look forward to right now – and that’s far from a bad thing. She’s already looking like one of several Honkai Star Rail characters suited for endgame activites. Although, only time will tell how true that is; unlocking her through Warps is a gamble, after all.
