To complete the Strand sources bonded objective in the Destiny 2 Maelstrom quest, search the Vex Incursion Zone for two glowing green Strand orbs and interact with them.
These Strand sources seem to spawn in a few different locations around the Vex Incursion Zone area, though you will recognise them from the Lightfall campaign when you temporarily gain the powers of Strand. A good place to start looking is at the front of the ship docked in Liming Harbor to the north.

Once you have found a Strand source to bond with, walk up to it and interact with it to ‘look within’. Bond with two Strand sources and you’ll have completed this objective in the Maelstrom quest.
