A new Season means new gear to collect and a new Power cap to reach. Though since Season 20: Season of Defiance launches alongside Lightfall, there’ll be a bigger jump in Power than usual. To help you out, we’ve got all you need to know about the Destiny 2 Season 20 Power cap, including the Power soft cap and max Power level.
Alongside a Destiny 2 Season 20 Power cap to reach, there’s also new Destiny 2 Lightfall Exotic weapons and Destiny 2 Lightfall Exotic armor to chase down in the big expansion launching with Season 20: Season of Defiance.
Destiny 2 Season 20 Power cap
The Destiny 2 Season 20 Power cap is 1800 Power, while the Power soft cap will be 1750. This is an increase of 210 Power from the last season.
Reaching the Power soft cap is a relatively simple process because every piece of gear you acquire should be an upgrade, no matter its rarity or source. However, once you reach the Season 20 Power soft cap of 1750, only Powerful and Pinnacle Gear rewards will increase your base Power level. Similarly, once you reach the extent of the Powerful Gear cap, only Pinnacle Gear will provide an upgrade to your current Power to bring you to the maximum Destiny 2 Season 20 Power cap.
Remember that, while the Seasonal Artifact also grants increases to Power, this type of Power is not taken into account when entering activities. This is why it’s possible to see Power levels that are ostensibly beyond the Power cap. When viewing your Power level in game, you will see both your base Power and the additional Power granted by the Artifact. This additional Power is purely to convey your progress through the current Season.
And that’s the Destiny 2 Season 20 Power cap for Season of Defiance. Be sure to stock up on Destiny 2 Upgrade Modules so you have enough to infuse your new higher Power gear. And don’t forget that having the best Destiny 2 Titan build, best Destiny 2 Warlock build, or the best Destiny 2 Hunter build is just as important as reaching the Power cap in Season of Defiance.
