The Destiny 2 Pouka creatures have been on everyone’s minds ever since they first appeared in the game with Beyond Light. Almost everyone has wanted their own Pouka, or even just to know more about them. But as the Light and Darkness saga comes to a close, we are finally learning more about the mysterious creature.
Alongside Destiny 2 Strand subclasses, which we uncover in Lightfall, the Poukas will make themselves known once again after the Exo Stranger showed us her Pouka back in Destiny 2 Beyond Light. So, why does the Exo Stranger have one? Where are they from? What are they? All of that is answered below.
What is a Pouka in Destiny 2?
A Pouka in Destiny 2 is a small, airborne fish-like creature within the Destiny universe. It is a sleek, silvery creature that makes sounds but seemingly isn’t able to communicate.
These creatures are one of the only alien creatures in the Destiny universe we have seen that are not hostile to the player and not based on a real-life creature. They were introduced in the Beyond Light expansion where we saw The Exo Stranger (Elsie Bray) with one, although we never interacted with them.
What is the origin of the Poukas in Destiny 2?
The Poukas appear to originate from Neomuna on Neptune and may have been created by Destiny 2’s Cloud Striders. They share the same silver technology and design that we can see on the Cloudstriders and throughout the city.
We don’t quite know how Elsie managed to get a Pouka, but the logical explanation is that on her journeys throughout our universe and across time she has either visited Neomuna or been somewhere else where Poukas and potentially Cloud Striders existed.
Lightfall should provide a lot more details on the Poukas and where they are from. We will also get to see Poukas up close thanks to the Destiny 2 Pouka Pond which is on Neomuna.
