What are the Guardian Games in Destiny 2?

The Guardian Games is an annual event in Destiny 2 that lets players compete to find out the best class in the game. Players will represent their chosen class and go head-to-head to earn more medals than the competition.

Medallions will primarily be earned by completing activities:

  • Bronze & Silver – Gambit, Quickplay Crucible, Vanguard Playlists, Defiant Battlegrounds, most Neptune activities
  • Gold & Platinum – Nightfalls, Raids, Dungeons, Competitive Crucible, Trials of Osiris, Legend Defiant Battlegrounds

Medals can also be earned by completing Guardian Games Triumphs and completing Contender Cards obtained from Eva Levante in the Tower. Don’t forget to have the unique Guardian Games 2023 class item equipped to make progress during the event.

The class that deposits the most Medallions will be crowned the winner for the day, and the class that wins the most days and weeks will win the whole Guardian Games 2023 event.

Strike scoring will be making a comeback as part of the event, letting players earn high-scores by completing specific challenges. This is always a fun incentive to run through Strikes while pushing your class towards victory. Furthermore, Guardian Games Ops will be returning, featuring class-based matchmaking for Strike Playlist activities.

Guardian Games 2023 will also see the debut of class-based matchmaking in a new variant of Supremacy in the Crucible. When a Guardian dies they will leave a class-branded crest behind, and collecting them is the key to win each match for your team. This was detailed in the Destiny 2 Guardian Games blog post by Bungie.

And that’s everything there is to know about the Destiny 2 Guardian Games 2023 event, including the start date and time, the rewards, and more. Dive into the event and bring victory to your main class. To help you out, have the best Destiny 2 PvE weapons and best Destiny 2 PvP weapons by your side.
