If you weren’t excited about the next Call of Duty game, Modern Warfare 3, you really should be now. A brand-new minute-long trailer showing Makarov in Modern Warfare 3 has just dropped and it might just be the coldest Call of Duty trailer we’ve ever seen – in every sense of the word. If you were worried this wouldn’t be one of the best FPS games out there when it drops, just take a look at the new trailer.
Clocking in at just under two minutes, the new MW3 Makarov trailer splices live-action scenes of Makarov in a high-security prison with our first look at some of Modern Warfare 3’s characters in-game. Leaks can tell us more about the MW3 guns we’ll be using in Modern Warfare 3’s multiplayer (and the MW3 maps we’ll be running around on), but nothing prepared us for how cold this new trailer is.
As you can see for yourself below, not only do we get to see Makarov getting a new prison tattoo – with Captain Price rallying off just how evil he is in a voice-over – but we also get to see some underwater (and under-ice) gameplay segments. We don’t know when these will show up in the Modern Warfare 3 campaign, but it looks like they show Task Force 141 going after him in prison.
Yeah, we have a funny feeling he isn’t going down without a fight.
One thing that is interesting is that it looks like Verdansk is back in Modern Warfare 3 – you can see scenes of the Verdansk Stadium at around the 01:14 mark. It does, though, also look like we’ll see something like No Russian in Modern Warfare 3. Price says “to him… every bystander [is] a shield”.
This trailer also seems to confirm that Bulgarian Shadow and Bone star Julian Kostov joins the Modern Warfare 3 cast. Makarov, as a character, presents some big shoes to fill. If this chilling trailer is anything to go by, Kostov is going to present us with a truly fantastic villain.
