Call of Duty leaks claim the original Captain Price is coming to MW2

If you're a Call of Duty fan looking for a new operator skin, leaks reveal a classic Call of Duty 2 Captain Price skin is coming to MW2 and Warzone soon.

If you’re out there looking for a hit of sweet nostalgia ahead of the Modern Warfare 3 release date, Call of Duty might just have you covered – if you’re a fan of series cover star Captain Price, anyway. Ahead of any official announcement from Activision, leaks claim a classic Call of Duty 2 Captain Price skin is coming to Warzone and Modern Warfare 2 at some point in the future. If this isn’t something that cements the current Call of Duty line-up as some of the best FPS games out there, we don’t know what will.

Shared on the social media platform formerly known as Twitter by multiple sources, including reliable outlet ‘CharlieIntel‘, a Captain Price operator skin based on the character’s appearance in 2005’s Call of Duty 2 seems to be coming to both Warzone and Modern Warfare 2 ahead of Modern Warfare 3’s launch. As you can see below, this skin will see the current Captain Price character model don the handlebar mustache and red beret the character’s 2005 appearance iconically features. The combat jacket design and front-mounted beige satchels also match the character’s Call of Duty 2 appearance with welcome accuracy.

You might wonder whether this is a legitimate leak or not, and you’re right to do so. However, a short glimpse of this skin in an operator selection screen was shared alongside a new look at the upcoming Lara Croft operator and the Hippin’ and Hoppin’ operator skins – both of which were officially announced with the Season 5 Reloaded update roadmap. This, an update that perfectly presents players with a shift in the MW2 meta and – as much as we hate to be the ones to tell you – makes launchers even more useless in Warzone, for the time being.

As you can see below, this Captain Price skin certainly looks like the real deal; with Call of Duty releasing a number of throwback audio packs, and the MW3 maps all revitalised multiplayer maps from 2009’s Modern Warfare 2, it’s clear that Activision is trying to cash in on the nostalgia this series has fostered over the years.

If you want to compare this to the character’s iconic Call of Duty 2 appearance, you can get a rough look at that below. Just remember that this is a game from 2005, so excuse the rough-looking character models.

While this classic Captain Price skin will be news to quite a few of you, eagle-eyed fans with longer memories might remember a time when a similar Captain Price skin was leaked as a pre-order bonus for Call of Duty Vanguard – something that would seem much more fitting, all things considered. Named Stiff Upper Lip, this skin is a little less refined than the current offering, but the bare bones of it remain the same. The mustache doesn’t link up to some sideburns, though, in the new iteration of the skin – and that’s a damn shame, if you ask us. Although, that does seem to be more accurate to the original appearance.

Still, it does look like a skin worth picking up if you’re a fan of Captain Price. We don’t know when it will release just yet, but what we know about Modern Warfare 3 pre-orders tells us that it won’t be a pre-order reward. So, we could see it arrive between now and the Warzone Season 6 release date – which isn’t so far away.

If you want to know a little bit more about the future of the franchise, you can find out more about all the confirmed Modern Warfare 3 weapons right here and all the MW3 characters expected to feature in the thrilling threequel here. It’s worth remembering, though, that not every MW2 operator will survive the switch to MW3. So, make sure you check whether the content will carry forward in-game before you buy.
