XDefiant will set your bullets straight with hit registration fix soon

XDefiant's hit registration can be shaky even at the best of times, but Ubisoft's Mark Rubin promises that a fix is inbound for the FPS.

Every bullet matters in fast-paced shooters like XDefiant, but making sure your targets are eliminated isn’t always a straightforward job. Like any new multiplayer FPS on the block, there is bound to be some teething issues, and Ubisoft is experiencing its fair share of issues as XDefiant is fresh into the hands of fans. Don’t worry, though, as a fix for XDefiant hit registration is on the way to PS5 and Xbox players.

Now that the long-awaited Ubisoft FPS game is here, some players are encountering some very annoying issues regarding the game’s hit registration. Skirmishes that should result in an immediate elimination are falling prey to unfair instances of bullets simply not affecting opposing XDefiant players. As a result, many are calling upon executive producer Mark Rubin to address the problem, to which Rubin says “it’s something we are working on.”

The response comes after pleas from ‘XDefiantUpdates’ jokingly stating that a petition could go live to get the issue rectified. The brand-new multiplayer game is battling against a myriad of technical obstacles across all platforms right now. Our experience with the game’s current build sometimes results in the highly irritating Delta-01 error, or de-sync during crucial firefights in any game mode. We’ve tested the game on both Xbox Series X|S and PS5 platforms, with different internet sources too, just to be sure.

Currently, an exact date for the hit registration fix is yet to be determined, but Ubisoft did release a small patch on Friday, May 24, 2024, to address a limited number of problems. Specifically, XDefiant players can see improvements regarding the following:

  • Sometimes players loading into the Practice Zone would spawn outside the world, in a hellscape, and now they (probably) will not.
  • Fixed an issue where if the player died during the device deployment animation, their next deployed device would drop at their feet rather than be thrown as intended
  • That issue where you’d get hitmarkers on an enemy as they killed you, but their health bar still appeared full to you? The health bar display was wrong – you did damage them. Should be fixed now
  • Fixed an issue where end-of-match UI text would display with the wrong orientation in Arabic
  • We’ve turned the Practice Zone back on, but it’s possible weird things could still happen
