How to rename your ship in Starfield

Here's how to rename your Starfield ship, as well as some of the best Starfield ship names if you're looking for inspiration on PC and Xbox.

Starfield rename ship: a ship called Shippy Rascal

How do you rename your ship in Starfield? While Bethesda’s epic space RPG doesn’t give you access to noble steeds that you can name and bond with like in Skyrim, you can instead brand your spaceship as you please. To do so, you’ll need to know how to rename your ship in Starfield. In this guide, we won’t just teach you how to do so, but will also offer up some of the best Starfield ship names you can designate to your mighty vessel. You’ll need to know the Starfield Ship Services Technician locations too, but don’t worry – we’ve got you covered.

Before we get into it, make sure you acquaint yourself with not only the full suite of Starfield ships available to you in the Xbox RPG game, but also the best Starfield ships and free Starfield ships that are worthy of taking up a slot in your fleet. The instructions you’ll find below, as well as some of the names in our best ship name list come courtesy of our Starfield review, so you know we’ve been busy renaming our crafts of choice in our own team lime green visage.

How to rename your ship in Starfield

To rename your Starfield ship, head to a Ship Services Technician and select the ‘I’d like to view and modify my ships’ option. From there, open the ‘Ship Builder’ menu and choose the ‘Flight Check’ option. Finally, select ‘Rename Ship’, allowing you to rename your ship.

You can name your ship whatever you like – rude things included – as long as it remains within 14 characters, free of charge. While this means you won’t be able to be too extravagant with the title you bequeath your ship, it does at least give you the chance to give your vessel a more personal touch. Just don’t get too attached to your star-faring steed, in case it gets blown to bits during battle – you’ll probably have to pay off a Starfield bounty after what happens next.
