Here’s how to play the Project L demo this weekend

Find out how you can get access to the Project L demo this weekend and play Riot's highly anticipated fighting game ahea dof its release.

Project L Demo: Yasuo can be seen

Have you heard about the Project L demo? Curious about what you need to do to play it? Well, unfortunately playing the game in August 2023 is only going to be possible for a small group of people. But, if you happen to be attending one of the biggest competitive gaming events, EVO 2023, you are in luck.

EVO 2023 is taking place between Friday, August 4, 2023, and Sunday, August 6, 2023, and Riot surprised everyone with a special announcement just before it started. After months and years of waiting for details on the Project L release date, it seems like this month we may finally get some details given that a playable build of the game is available publically. But can you join in and play?

How to play the Project L demo

You can play the Project L demo this weekend, Friday, August 4, 2023 – Sunday, August 6, 2023, at EVO 2023 in Los Angeles. It can be played on the show floor. Unfortunately, if you are not at the event, the demo won’t be available on PC or consoles online.

The Project L demo contains four of the Project L characters out of the six confirmed so far. These include Yasuo who was revealed at the event, alongside Ekko, Darius, and Ahri. If you are attending the event Riot has created a good overview of the systems and mechanics for you to get started.

Will there be another Project L demo?

The game is quite a way off as Riot is still putting everything together and crafting fighters, so we would be surprised if they don’t hold some kind of public beta or test later this year or in 2024. This hasn’t been confirmed yet, but with Project L being free to play, we would be surprised if a demo isn’t held.

Other fighting games have held betas and tests. The Mortal Kombat 1 beta is taking place later this month and you could have grabbed a Tekken 8 beta code last month for a network test that took place just last weekend. So, with Riot wanting to make the launch as successful as possible, you will probably be able to play ahead of the launch.

Project L is almost certainly going to be one of the best fighting games of all time when it is released. The game is still a while off, as is another demo most likely. But, be sure to keep an eye out for even more information as we get closer, as well as if a Project L PS5 and Xbox release is likely.
