Fortnite OG fans have already played for a total of 4,250,000 days

Epic Games is making history with the new Fortnite season, as Fortnite OG sees a massive surge in players dropping into the Chapter 1 map.

Fortnite OG 44 million players

Epic Games is giving Fortnite players the ultimate trip down memory lane with the latest update to the immense popular battle royale game. Players have longed for the days of the original map and weapons to return, and now after years of absence from the game, Fortnite OG restores plenty of fan-favorite features. The new Fortnite season is going down so well with players that it is making history.

When Fortnite OG dropped recently, we reported how the game saw nearly 4 million players log in to reap the rewards of the fresh season. That was quickly surpassed, and now, Epic Games reveals how one of the best battle royale games around is cementing itself in history. Confirming the new record on social media, Epic Games thanks its loyal players: “[What a] way to start things off with a big bang, we’re blown away by the response to Fortnite OG. Yesterday was the biggest day in Fortnite’s history, with over 44.7 MILLION players jumping in.”

If that wasn’t impressive enough, the studio also reveals that around “102 MILLION hours of play” have been recorded. That equates to 4,250,000 days of played, according to Calculate Me, which is just mind-bending to consider. Even the best games like Fortnite can’t compete with those of numbers.

Fortnite player count new season

Leaks surrounding the theme of Fortnite OG have been rampant in the run-up to the new season, with only a handful of leakers correctly predicting what content would be included in the update. While other rumors surrounding the inclusion of Fortnite FPS mode are yet to come to fruition, we are curious to see whether Fortnite Doctor Who crossover will still arrive when Doctor Who BBC specials air toward the end of this year.

Fortnite OG is just getting started, though. According to Epic Games, players will be shown a plethora of unvaulted content across this season. “Throughout ‘Fortnite OG’, each major update will bring a different phase of [the] battle royale’s past, starting with Chapter 1 Season 5,” says the developer in a statement addressing the beginning of Fortnite OG. This approach also applies to weaponry and other items, because Epic Games is planning to keep things fresh along the way.

Epic Games adds that “some of the unvaulted gear in each update will remain for that update, be in more than one update, or stay for the rest of Fortnite OG.” This update cements why Fortnite is one of the best PS5 games and best Xbox games around, so don’t hesitate to see what Fortnite OG is all about before it ends.
