August 23, 2022 Bungie officially confirmed previous leaks during the Destiny 2 Showcase 2022. The contents of this article has been updated to reflect that.
Destiny 2 developer Bungie has confirmed that some of the MMORPG’s characters will be crossing over into Fortnite. Fortnite’s Destiny 2 skins will see three popular characters from the game – Commander Zavala, Ikora Rey, and the Exo Stranger – join the already head-spinning roster of characters from other IPs.
From Kratos to Master Chief, iconic figures from other videogames permeate Fortnite frequently these days, alongside the swathes of characters from film, TV, and comics. Zavala, Ikora, and the Exo Stranger (sorry, no Cayde or Crow skins unfortunately, Destiny fans) are now the latest to drop into the Fortnite island.
By creating skins for these three characters, mains for each of Destiny 2’s classes (Titan, Warlock, and Hunter respectively) are catered for. The Fortnite Destiny 2 skins will also reportedly be available in the battle royale just a few hours after Bungie’s Lightfall showcase wraps up.
The showcase also showed off Sparrow gliders, sword-based pickaxes, and Ghost backpacks for each character.
Unlike most other collaborations in Fortnite, this one is a two-way street – Fortnite will also have some of its iconic skins transformed into Destiny 2 armour for Season 18 – The Season of Plunder – which kicked off as soon as the Lightfall showcase finished.
As well as this Destiny 2 crossover, a new Fortnite easter egg is also hinting at a Lord of the Rings collaboration at some point in the near future. This all comes after the massively viral crossover with Dragon Ball and the addition of Goku.
