We know that, when it comes to exciting events and collaborations, Fortnite is one of the best battle royale games out there – even if Warzone Season 5 is getting an Umbrella Academy collaboration soon. At the moment, players can jump into Epic Games’ free-to-play shooter and enjoy outrageous Dragon Ball Z anime action with the Fortnite Kamehameha Mythic and Fortnite Versus Boards. However, eagle-eyed fans think an even more exciting collaboration is coming… They have spotted Lord of the Rings’ Helms Deep on Fortnite Island – sort of, anyway.

Taking to the ‘FortNiteBR’ subreddit, Twitch streamer and Fortnite fan ‘Koooooomar’ stated that he finally “realised what the Rock-Child is building” on the beach by Fortnite Island’s Condo Canyon POI – and it’s Helms Deep, the iconic last-ditch fortification used by the people of Rohan in the Battle of the Hornburg in a desperate attempt to escape the onslaught of Saruman the White’s Uruk-Hai Army in Lord of the Rings The Two Towers.

Yes, that Helms Deep – the location of one of the most vital turning points in the Lord of the Rings narrative and one of the most exciting cinematic battles we’ve seen on the big screen. It’s safe to say that, for Lord of the Rings fans, this is kind of a big deal.

We can’t imagine that Koooooomar is the first Fortnite player to spot this strange structure in the sands, but the comparison to Lord of the Rings’ Helms Deep is undeniable – and, we know Epic Games doesn’t do anything in Fortnite without a reason. Could this really be a hint that a Lord of the Rings collaboration is coming to the battle royale?

Well, the short answer is yes. It could be a hint that a Lord of the Rings collaboration is coming to Fortnite. However, it’s important to keep our expectations tame when it comes to these things – even though there is a lot Fortnite could do with the Lord of the Rings IP (which, funnily enough, was just acquired by the Embracer Group).

We don’t think we’ll get anything quite as extravagant as the Marvel-themed season during Chapter 2 Season 4, or the larger collaborations with anime series like Naruto Shippuden and Dragon Ball Z. We could, however, get some skins – which would be pretty great, and more likely than a larger collaboration.

With Amazon Prime’s hotly anticipated Rings of Power series coming soon, we could very well see Epic Games release some tie-in cosmetics at some point in the future too. Similar things have been seen during the weekly release of Marvel Studios’ Moon Knight and the cinematic release of Marvel Studios’ Thor Love and Thunder – just as a couple of examples.

While we reckon Fortnite – and Lord of the Rings fans – would want to see skins based on the characters from Peter Jackson’s movie trilogy, like Gandalf and Aragorn, we do think a tie-in cosmetics collaboration with the Rings of Power trilogy is more plausible. That is, if something is happening at all. This could just be a fun homage to the iconic location – Fortnite is full of little easter eggs, after all.

We know this is exciting, but if this isn’t your cup of tea, then you can find out some of the best games like Fortnite right here. If it is, you might want to check out this guide to the Fortnite No Sweat Summer quests while you still have a chance to complete them. But, don’t wait too long… They won’t be around forever.
