Destiny 2 Witherhoard – how to get the weapon and Catalyst

Find out how to get the Destiny 2 Witherhoard Exotic grenade launcher and how to get the Witherhoard Catalyst, one of the best weapons in the game.

Destiny 2 Witherhoard: Eris Morn on the Moon.

The Destiny 2 Witherhoard Exotic grenade launcher has long been one of the best weapons in the entire game, so you’re going to want to know how to get it. Whether you’re a new Light player or a veteran Guardian, here’s all you need to know about the Destiny 2 Witherhoard, including how to get Witherhoard and the Witherhoard Catalyst in Destiny 2, along with the unique effects.

The Destiny 2 Witherhoard Exotic grenade launcher is one of the best Destiny 2 PvE weapons available right now, so you’ve likely seen in during Nightfalls, Terminal Overload, or in the Vex Incursion Zone. While Witherhoard is not a new Exotic, if you’ve got the latest expansion then there’s lots of exciting Destiny 2 Lightfall Exotic weapons to chase down, alongside several legendary Destiny 2 Lightfall weapons.

How to get Witherhoard in Destiny 2

To get Witherhoard in Destiny 2, visit the Monument to Lost Lights in the Tower and purchase it from the Shadowkeep section.

This does, unfortunately, mean that you have to own the Shadowkeep expansion to be able to buy the Witherhoard. You can find the Monument to Lost Lights Exotic archive between the Vault storage machines, near the Gunsmith.

Witherhoard, like other Exotics from the Monuments to Lost Lights kiosk in the Tower, is quite expensive to buy. You’ll likely need to earn more Destiny 2 Glimmer and Destiny 2 Ascendant Shards before you’re able to buy Witherhoard.

How to get the Witherhoard Catalyst in Destiny 2

To get and unlock the Witherhoard Catalyst in Destiny 2, visit Banshee-44 in the Tower after acquiring the weapon to begin The Bank Job quest. Complete this quest to earn the Catalyst.

Completing The Bank Job quest and unlocking the Witherhoard Catalyst, while time-consuming, is relatively straightforward. First you’ll have to defeat enemies with Kinetic or Special ammo grenade launchers, so Witherhoard will do the job very well. Then, you’ll have to defeat Guardians with grenade launchers, get multi-kills, and complete Crucible, Gambit, or Nightfall activities.

Once you’ve completed The Bank Job quest steps, you’ll get and unlock the Witherhoard Catalyst.

Destiny 2 Witherhoard Exotic perks and Catalyst effects

In Destiny 2, Witherhoard is a Kinetic grenade launcher which fires blight projectiles. These will create AoE damage zones when fired at the ground, or deal significant damage-over-time to targets hit directly. Blighted targets will blight the area beneath them when they die.

The Witherhoard Catalyst in Destiny 2 will increase handling and cause the weapon to reload after a short period of time when holstered.

Once you’ve got the Witherhoard Catalyst it’s a force to be reckoned with. You can blight targets or areas to deal heavy damage, then swap to another weapon. After only a few seconds you’ll be able to swap back to an automatically reloaded Witherhoard to keep the damage ticking.

That’s all there is to know about the Destiny 2 Witherhoard, including the Witherhoard Catalyst and how to get it. Once you’ve got it, you’re ready to take on some of the hardest content in the game, such as Destiny 2 Terminal Overload, Destiny 2 Vex Incursion Zone, or the Destiny 2 Root of Nightmares Lightfall raid.
