MW3 Season 2 will lure you in with a free weekend on PS5 and Xbox

You can enjoy another MW3 free weekend soon, as the launch of Modern Warfare 3 Season 2 celebrates all things zombified on PS5 and Xbox.

Modern Warfare 3 is getting ready to launch its next major seasonal update, steering the latest Call of Duty game toward a crossover with The Walking Dead, too. MW3 Season 2 will also usher in new multiplayer maps and plenty of zombie-inspired carnage, and the best part is, you don’t need to own the game to play it. The next MW3 free weekend is coming to Xbox and PS5 imminently.

With best-in-class gunplay, an ever-evolving MW3 meta, and loads of content, there’s a lot to sink your teeth into for a limited time. MW3 Season 2 is unlike other seasonal updates before it, giving each aspect of new content a link to shredding zombies in one way or another. You’ll be able to rip your foes apart with the best MW3 loadouts in Hordepoint, a returning mode last seen in Sledgehammer Games’ Call of Duty WW2.

This mode adds constantly spawning zombies into the battlefield, making it all the more challenging for both teams to capture the objective – and it can get chaotic.

Alongside Hordepoint, MW3 Season 2 also introduces new MW3 maps into the mix for some intense 6v6 skirmishes. You’ll get to access a smaller selection of maps in the MW3 free weekend, but the good news is that the latest locales like Stash House and Rio are included, with some classics thrown in there too. Yes, you will get to grind your MW3 guns on Shipment. At this point, not including Shipment in one of the best multiplayer games around is a crime for COD players.

Who knows, maybe Treyarch will debut yet another version of it in its next game, allegedly rumored to be known as Call of Duty Black Ops Gulf War. But until that happens, Modern Warfare 3’s upcoming free weekend will enable access to some of the better game modes to do battle in. These include Domination, Team Gun Game, Kill Confirmed, Hardpoint, and Team Deathmatch. And if mowing down other opponents wasn’t enough, then you can explore MW3 Zombies without spending a dime.

We do think it is odd that MW3 Season 2 isn’t furnishing the ambitious COD Zombies with meaningful new content, and we hope it doesn’t meet the same fate as Warzone’s spin-off mode DMZ if it continues like this. However, Season 2 Reloaded could be the saving grace for Zombies players.

So, while you get a taste of arguably one of the best FPS games around, you can start looking forward to the future, as these new COD leaks hint what the new game’s campaign will look like
