What is the best MW2 MX Guardian loadout? The MX Guardian is a deadly shotgun that arrived in Season 4 Reloaded, though it’s got one major drawback, so you’re going to want to know how to make it work. And once you’ve got the best MX Guardian build in Modern Warfare 2, you’ll realize just how powerful this shotgun can be.
Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2’s MX Guardian is one of the four MW2 Season 4 guns and weapons to be added, each of which has made waves in their own right. While the MX Guardian is the last one to be added, it’s by no means one to ignore. In the more close-range firefights of multiplayer, the MX Guardian loadout can certainly be one of the best MW2 guns right now.
MW2 MX Guardian loadout
The best MW2 MX Guardian loadout is:
- Barrel: MX-G Mobile
- Muzzle: XTEN Modified Choke
- Laser: Schlager ULO-66 Laser
- Magazine: MX Pro Mag
- Rear Grip: XRK Rush
This MX Guardian build comes at the recommendation of content creator ‘WhosImmortal’, though we’ve made a few changes. While it’s undoubtedly a close-range weapon, it’s hard to ignore just how fun and destructive this weapon can be in the right scenarios. With the range of engagement often being shorter compared to Warzone’s sprawling maps, you’ll find plenty of opportunities to roll out the red carpet for this MX Guardian loadout. And if you’re yet to get the weapon, you can find out how to unlock the MX Guardian in MW2 here.
For the first attachment, the MX-G Mobile barrel works like a charm. Boasting improvements to damage range, hip fire accuracy, and movement speed – all the main stats an MX Guardian loadout needs – the MX-G Mobile is a great pick. With that said, the decreased recoil control, bullet velocity, hip recoil control, and aim down sight speed is unfortunate, though we’ll be compensating for this hit elsewhere. It helps that, as a shotgun, the MX Guardian generally doesn’t benefit from bullet velocity or recoil control as much as other weapon types anyhow though. To round out this attachment, we recommend tuning it for damage range and recoil steadiness.
Following this up, the XTEN Modified Choke comes in handy to boost the range of this weapon. While in Warzone you’ll often have a backup assault rifle for longer ranges, you will find yourself more reliant on the MX Guardian in multiplayer, making range a more valuable stat. That’s why we’ve opted for the XTEN Modified Choke, which increases damage range and pellet spread, at the cost of aim down sight speed and recoil steadiness. However, if you’d rather the increased mobility of the MX DCP-0 stock, then this is also a great choice, and one that we’d recommend in Warzone or Ground War.
Up next in the Schlager ULO-66 Laser, which is great for the close-range nature of the MX Guardian. Falling off dramatically even at the 10 meter mark, we’re often in close-range hip firing this weapon, especially given its rapid rate of fire, making boosts to hip fire invaluable. The Schlager ULO-66 provides both hip fire accuracy and hip fire recoil control to rein in the intense kick of this weapon when fired in full-auto. Even better is the fact that it has no downside, making it a must-pick for shotguns and this MX Guardian loadout. Whilst WhosImmortal suggests tuning towards hip fire recoil control, we’d recommend tuning more for hip fire accuracy and sprint to fire speed. The increased accuracy, while not improving range damage fall-off, will make it easier to land more pellets. This comes in clutch when you’re going toe to toe with an enemy.
Next, the MX Pro Mag is another strong pick for an MX Guardian build. The main reason behind this is the improved sprint to fire speed to hone in on the run-and-gun playstyle, though the bonus to aim down sight speed can come in handy when you need it. And while this does come with a reduction to recoil control, this isn’t all that noticeable when you’re blasting an enemy up close and personal.
Last but not least, the XRK Rush rear grip is the cherry on top thanks to its boosts to mobility. Trading recoil control for a nice improvement to sprint to fire speed and aim down sight speed, the XRK Rush is great for enhancing our agility with the MX Guardian so you can drop enemies before they’ve even had a chance to get their weapon at the ready. We recommend tuning this attachment for aim down sight speed and sprint to fire speed to further amp up this aspect of the build.
With the best MW2 MX Guardian loadout now at the ready, you can’t do much better in close-quarters fights. Though if you want to take it to the next level in one of the best FPS games, then you’re going to need the full class setup.
MW2 MX Guardian class setup
The best MW2 MX Guardian class setup makes use of a longer range, more adaptable weapon to cover all bases, and luckily there’s tons to choose from. Being as the MX Guardian has close-range engagements on lockdown, a medium to long-range weapon like the HCR 56 or MW2 Lachmann-556 loadout is a great choice. You can use our Warzone HCR 56 loadout to learn more about this specific backup weapon, as the setup is the same. In fact, even something like the MW2 FTAC Siege loadout can work, as this will still dish out damage at a further range than the MX Guardian.
When it comes to perks, Overkill is our first recommendation, as you’ll need it to bring one of the additional primary weapons we just mentioned. However, if you’re only doing something like Shipment 24/7, then you can swap Overkill.
For the other perks, we recommend Tracker or Scavenger, Fast Hands, and Ghost. These are great for staying nimble and undetected so we can swoop in behind enemy lines to wreak havoc with our MX Guardian loadout. What’s more, if you’re using Tracker, then you can even hunt down enemies using their footprints. It’s certainly a lot of fun if you’re looking for a highly aggressive shotgun build.
And we can’t forget about the equipment as these go a long way in supporting our close-range plays. We’d recommend you equip a Flashbang and Drill Charge so you can force enemies out of cover and make them vulnerable before jumping into the fray with the MX Guardian. However, another great choice is the Stim for fast healing. Given we’re going to be on the move constantly, diving in and out of firefights, the Stim is perfect for staying topped up when you need it most. After all, being at close-range, right in the enemy’s face is typically not the safest place to be.
Best MW2 MX Guardian alternatives
There’s really only one other shotgun that truly shines as the best MX Guardian alternative in MW2, and that’s the MW2 KV Broadside loadout. In fact, this is what we recommend using to unlock the MX Guardian in the first place. Boasting high damage and surprisingly good range for a shotgun, the KV Broadside has long reigned as the shotgun king in MW2, though the MX Guardian could be here to overthrow it. Nevertheless, this is what we’d recommend if you’re just not getting on well with the MX Guardian, but still want a strong shotgun.
Otherwise, there’s plenty of great SMGs that fill the close-range niche, some of which are among the best MW2 loadouts. We’d recommend the MW2 Vaznev-9K loadout and the MW2 Fennec 45 loadout first and foremost, as both offer superb damage at close-range, while also holding their own at mid-range.
That’s all you need to know to make the best MW2 MX Guardian loadout to dominate multiplayer right now. With a full build and class setup at the ready, try it out to take top spot in one of the best competitive FPS games you can play right now. Who knows, it could be just what you need to rise through the MW2 ranks and skill divisions.
