There are already plenty of games that are in line to be shown off at Xbox’s summer showcase in June, but according to a reputable insider, that lineup could include one of the most anticipated Xbox games of them all – Gears 6. In a recent podcast appearance, Jeff Grubb claims that a “tease” of the new Gears of War game this summer “sounds about right”, meaning the very long wait for news may be over in just a couple of months time.

There’s been plenty of chatter and rumors in the Gears community recently, whether that be about a remastered collection of old Gears of War titles or an all-new entry into the iconic shooter series. Even with no official confirmation at all that it’s in the works, Gears 6 remains one of the most hotly-anticipated Xbox exclusives. Microsoft and developer The Coalition have both been tight-lipped about anything Gears-related for a long time, but according to Grubb, that is set to change this summer.

Speaking on the Kinda Funny Games Xcast, regular Parris Lilly speculates that we will see a Gears 6 teaser this year and that it’s likely a launch title for the next-gen Xbox in about three or four years’ time. Off the back of this, Grubb says: “I’ve heard some stuff may be happening with Gears 6 this summer. I think a tease sounds about right to me, Parris, that seems like what we can expect.”

While there are so many other more imminent projects that will no doubt feature at Xbox’s June showcase – such as Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, Fable, and the console exclusive everyone seems to have forgotten about, Ark 2 – it now sounds like Gears 6 is going to join the party. Grubb has a decent track record with his insider info, so we certainly trust what he’s saying here.

A reveal of Gears 6 could also tie in with a reveal of the rumored collection of remasters that The Coalition is reportedly working on. We could also potentially get an update on the Gears of War movie and animated series that has been officially confirmed to be in the works.

The Gears series has produced some of the best Xbox games of all time, but the last mainline entry was way back in 2019 with Gears 5. It’s even been four years since the last spinoff game, with that being 2020’s Gears Tactics.

Until we hear more officially from The Coalition or Xbox, why not satisfy your Gears cravings by playing them on Game Pass? The entire catalog is on there, and the first three entries in particular are some of the best Xbox Game Pass games on the entire service.

If that doesn’t take your fancy, here are the new Xbox Game Pass games arriving this month. You can also see what Hellblade 2 previews are saying about one of this year’s biggest first-party games.
