Who are the romance options in Starfield?

Looking to find love and friendship with the Starfield romance options? Bethesda’s upcoming RPG offers new opportunities for players.

Starfield Romance: Sarah can be seen

It’s time to take courtship across the solar system. We know how Starfield romance components work and how you can establish romantic relationships with members of Constellation and your companions.

So, when you’re not too busy swashbuckling as a space pirate, or grav-jumping to over 1,000 Starfield planets, there’s time for a bit of amorosity. Of course, Bethesda’s previous titles like Skyrim have the amulet marriages and Fallout 4 explored deeper, XP-boosting relationship perks. But, when it comes to Starfield, romance is sticking closer to Fallout 4 with a similar system focused on bonding with individual characters over time.

Starfield romance options

Starfield has four romance options:

  • Barrett – Constellation
  • Sarah Morgan – Constellation
  • Sam Coe – Freestar Collective
  • Andreja – Constellation

In an interview with Todd Howard on the Lex Fridman podcast, Howard confirmed the feature ahead of launch stating “we have a number of companions, but for them we… [have] more complex relationships than we’ve had” in terms of them just stating they like you and love you.

He goes on to say that “they can be in love with you and dislike something you did and be pissed at you temporarily, but then come back to loving you.” So, we’re talking more impactful romance arcs than ever before in a Bethesda game. Unfortunately, you can’t romance every Starfield companion.

Whilst the presence of romance in Starfield has been confirmed by Todd Howard, how exactly it will work in-game is currently unclear and we are still finding out. But, these companions will respond in a more complex manner rather than it being straightforward or unchangeable. The key indicator that you are building a bond is when the companion you are talking to has a popup during the conversation “X likes that”.

For now, though, you can get a deep dive into each individual character:

Starfield Romance: Barrett Can be seen

Barrett

Barret is the first person from Constellation you meet in the game. He is a major focus until the very end of the story and will need to be a part of your crew. Make him your companion as much as possible and you will eventually be able to flirt with him.

Starfield Romance: Sarah can be seen

Sarah Morgan

Sarah is one of the first companions you will meet in the game and is by your side from the very start of your journey with Constellation. You will need to make morally good choices to be able to romance her and spend a lot of time with her to eventually be able to flirt and romance her.

Starfield Romance: Sam can be seen

Sam Coe

Sam is one of the later individuals you will meet in Starfield. He has a strong set of ideals and going against him will likely cause a lot of issues if you want to romance him.

We are still figuring out how to romance him in the game but will update this section once we know.

Starfield Romance: Andreja can be seen

Andreja

The final member of Constellation that you can romance is Andreja. You will need to flirt and romance her as much as possible in your time with her and around her to get her to like you. The goal is to support her, avoid killing anyone friendly, and exhaust all of your dialogue options with her.

Once she has grown close enough with you, you can then complete her companion mission and choose to romance her at the end of it.

Will there be sex in Starfield?

It was revealed earlier this year that, due to the “Restricted 18+” age rating from the Australian Government, players won’t be seeing any sex in the game. There will be some nudity though, with “very mild impact”.

The ESRB’s rating also revealed some slightly oo-er dialogue that features in Starfield after sharing a bed with characters, giving it a “Mature 17+” rating. These included, “Life is a sexually transmitted disease that’s a hundred percent fatal”; “I’m all for getting a little wild, but next time let’s try it without the jetpacks”; and “Talk about seeing stars, whew… that was amazing.” Love and romance aren’t just about a bit of space raunchiness though.

So, there we have it, that’s everything you need to know about Starfield romance.
