Blizzard Entertainment has unveiled the full Overwatch 2 Junker Queen ‘The Wastelander’ animated short after teasing it on June 12. Originally, shown off at the Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase, we have now seen the full newest hero to Overwatch.
Within the lore, Junker Queen is the cutthroat leader of the Junkers and sends enforcers around the town to people who don’t pay their taxes or act out of line. This new short tells the tale of how Junker Queen got to that position within Junker Town, as she competes in a brawl against the previous leader of the town.
Alongside this information, Blizzard unveiled details about the battle pass in the game and the early season 1 and season 2 plans after launch. On top of that, the game’s free-to-play model changes how microtransactions are working with lootboxes being removed in favour of a shop.

The Overwatch 2 release date was also revealed at the Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase, with Junker Queen fully announced for the game within the 90-minute event. Alongside Blizzard Entertainment’s Overwatch 2, the company’s other big game in development, Diablo 4 was also showcased.
