If you want to know how to unlock all the Kameo fighters in Mortal Kombat 1, you’re in the right place. In fact, it’s not going to be as hard as you think to get all the Kameo fighters in Mortal Kombat 1 – if you know what you’re doing. NetherRealm Studios, though, doesn’t make that nearly as clear as it could be. So, that’s where we step in to help you out. If you’re struggling to work out what you need to do, keep reading.

The Mortal Kombat 1 Kameo fighters are an integral part of the combat system developed by NetherRealm Studios and improved upon for this new release. You technically don’t need to use them when you’re going toe-to-toe with any one of the Mortal Kombat 1 characters in the roster, but they’re a useful tool that you should look to take advantage of when it comes to breaking kombos and attacking your opponents.

How to unlock all Kameo fighters in Mortal Kombat 1

In order to unlock all the Kameo fighters locked at launch in Mortal Kombat 1, you need to complete the following steps:

  • Reach account level 5 – Scorpion Kameo fighter
  • Reach account level 10 – Sub Zero Kameo fighter
  • Reach account level TBC – Kung Lao Kameo fighter
  • Reach account level TBC – Shinjinko Kameo fighter
  • Reach account level TBC – Motaro Kameo fighter

For context, here’s the menu you should see when you head to the Kameo section of your Kollection menu:

You’ll be pleased to know that the only thing you need to know about unlocking Kameo fighters in Mortal Kombat 1 is that you just need to keep playing Mortal Kombat 1. For those marked TBC, we will update this guide as soon as we can with accurate information. However, we would think it’s safe to assume that these will be unlocked every five account levels.

If you want to see what they look like, you can check out their in-game models and default skins down below. One interesting thing to note is that the default appearance of the Scorpion and Sub Zero Kameo fighters doesn’t match the standard appearance of the same characters in the main roster. We can imagine skins more similar, and vice versa, will be available at some point in the future.

Are any of these initially-locked options going to sit at the top of our Mortal Kombat 1 Kameo tier list? Well, only time will tell. In any case, though, you will be able to check them all out for yourself before too long. You can also check some of them out in action below:

Mortal Kombat 1 isn’t a small game, and there are a lot of great upcoming Xbox games and upcoming PS5 games worth playing in 2023.
