Appearing at Geoff Keighley’s star-studded showcase, the Spider-Man sequel from Insomniac Games unleashes some Symbiote-infused art, including our first look at the brutish fan favorite, Venom.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 launch date for PlayStation 5 is on Friday, October 20, 2023, according to an official reveal during Summer Game Fest 2023.
Celebrating the news over in a new PlayStation blog post, Insomniac Games says that “after the amazing fan reception for Marvel’s Spider-Man in 2018 and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales in 2020, the team has worked tirelessly over the past few years to make this third installment in the franchise the sequel you have been waiting for.”
With a new wealth of features and refinements to the ultimate Spidey fan experience, the developer explains that players can expect to utilize “the power of the console with better visuals, faster web swinging (and web wings!), 3D Audio*, and near-instant character switching.”
That’s right Spidey fans, web wings. We still can’t believe it either. But what about Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 villains? Well if you have been waiting to see the utter beast that is Venom, now your moment has arrived.
There he is. Look at him in all his glory. Though, the studio notes that this version of Venom is not Eddie Brock. Could it perhaps be best friend Harry Osborne stepping into the dreaded black alien goo? We certainly think it could be given how the first game ended. You’ll have to brush up on Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 characters ahead of the game’s launch.
