Marvel has always produced some gnarly looking collectibles in its time, but we’re in awe of the Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Collector’s Edition. Available through Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 pre-orders, this beastly edition packages a glorious statue with it – but you might not be able to get it for Insomniac Games’ intended price. Now, the next Spidey adventure is part of a huge eBay price surge.
The Collector’s Edition is only available via PlayStation Direct, making it quite the commodity – because once it’s gone, it’s gone. With some regions not hosting links for it yet, we’ve taken a look on eBay to see how the prices fare compared to the PlayStation Direct asking price of $229 / £219. The price is already ridiculously high, with it ranging from $232 to as high as $369.
Though, this isn’t even the highest price that the Spider-Man 2 Collector’s Edition is going for. As we swing closer toward Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 release date, this limited-edition of the game is reaching highs of $649, with the middle of the road price sitting at $450. We haven’t even mentioned the shipping costs you’d incur, but hopefully you’ll be able to snag one for yourself directly from PlayStation.
Insomniac Games is releasing two versions of the game, giving PS5 owners a decision to make – pending they’ve got the shelf space for that behemoth of a statue included with the Collector’s Edition. The standard edition comes with a Spider-Bot keychain at retailers like UK-based GAME.
But the real superstar is the aforementioned statue, which depicts Miles Morales and Peter Parker fighting Venom in all his Symbiotic glory. There are some new skins included with this edition too, with a total of ten new outfits available. These Spider-Man 2 skin variants could be the most vibrant array of costumes yet.
If Insomniac Games doesn’t include the purple-shaded version of the Symbiote, we will be upset (please do it, folks).
We’re still waiting to see if Insomniac Games confirms that Venom is indeed Peter’s childhood friend Harry Osborn, who was teased to be undergoing medical procedures with the help of the alien entity. He may just join the list of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 villains if so.
Once the Collector’s Edition is out of stock forever, we can’t imagine how high the prices will soar. With competition from Alan Wake 2 and Assassin’s Creed Mirage later this year, Spidey’s next outing is definitely one of many upcoming PS5 games shaping up to be a banger.
