New Honkai Star Rail unit is most annoying yet, but everyone’s a fan

If you want to add one of the most annoying Honkai Star Rail characters to your team, HoYoverse has you covered with upcoming unit Dr Ratio.

Honkai Star Rail Dr Ratio leaks 1.6 characters: an image of the character with side eye emoji and a laughing emoji

Honkai Star Rail developer HoYoverse is sharing new information on upcoming Honkai Star Rail 1.6 characters and one of the new five-star characters you can look forward to pulling might just be one of the most annoying characters yet – in a rather amusing way. If you’re someone who wants to make sure your enemies ‘take the L’ in every fight, then Dr Ratio is for you; yes, that’s actually his real name. Recent leaks also reveal a handful of this character’s voice lines and he’s already proving to be a hit with fans.

HoYoverse’s Honkai Star Rail might not be the first game you think of when you think about the best RPG games out there right now, but it’s one of the most addictive new PS5 games available and presents players with a staggering amount of content to get through. And, with the Honkai Star Rail banner schedule forever lining up new units for you to add to your best Honkai Star Rail team comp, there’s always something to chase after. One of those new units is going to be Dr Ratio and everyone loves him – even though he’s shaping up to be one of the most annoying characters yet.

As you can see below in this first official image of Dr Ratio, he’s a five-star Imaginary character who – like Seele – is on the path of The Hunt. Prior to this, many assumed Dr Ratio would be a four-star character – based on leaks and rumors – so, the fact that he’s going to be better than this is far from a bad thing.

If you want to know a little bit about who Dr Ratio is going to be, though, HoYoverse is sharing this brief character description on social media:

“The most annoying thing about idiocy is that you can’t explain it to an idiot” – Dr Ratio

“A candid and self-centered Intelligentsia Guild member, who often conceals his appearance with a strange plaster sculpture. He demonstrated unparalleled intelligence and talent since his youth, but now refers to himself as a “Mundanite.” He firmly believes that intellect and creativity are not confined to geniuses. He seeks to distribute knowledge to the entire universe to cure the persistent disease named ignorance.”

Yeah, we don’t need to tell you that a self-centered, arrogant intellectual who wants to “cure the persistent disease named ignorance” sounds like an annoying character, right?

Well, even though Dr Ratio sounds truly detestable as a person, quite a few Honkai Star Rail fans are already head over heels for him; the comments on this social media post reveal that much. Aside from the fact that he’s literally making an ‘L’ with his hand, fans are fawning over his arms – and, to be honest, everything else about him.

However, as funny as everyone is finding this man named “Dr Ratio”, new leaks sharing some of his upcoming voice lines online has everyone in stitches – and prepared to spend all their Stellar Jade trying to get him.

As you can see below, he’s really going to live up to his name – and be the embodiment of arrogance – when he arrives.

With voice lines like “to exist is to be perceived” and “use your brain” alongside lines like “negative points, get out of here” and “need… some stern teaching”, it’s safe to say that players are convinced that Dr Ratio is a must-pull character – even without knowing how good he’s going to be. As one Redditor perfectly puts it, a lot of players are going to be trying to get him “just for the memes”.

One thing we don’t know too much about right now, though, is his kit, as alluded to above. However, these leaks from around six months ago suggest that he’s going to deal additional damage to enemies with negative status effects, while also being able to taunt and slow enemies. You should also be able to assign yourself a random buff with Dr Ratio, which could make him an effective fighter if those buffs are worthwhile.

This leak, though, as you can see below, does also list him as a four-star character. So, it’s a little outdated – to say the least – and should be taken with a pinch of salt.

Dr Ratio is expected to become available in Honkai Star Rail version 1.6 alongisde four-star Xueyi and five-star Ruan Mei. This is a few weeks away yet, so there’s plenty of time for you to earn more Star Rail Special Passes in preparation for his arrival. And, we should find out more about his kit in the coming weeks.

There is, though, a handful of new Honkai Star Rail codes worth claiming now. Also, the new Honkai Star Rail unit Topaz and Numby is proving divisive, but deadly. So, you might want to consider spending some of your Stellar Jade to try and get that unit beforehand. The fact that PS5 players are still missing this vital meta unit, however, will mean you need to work harder to get your hands on the best Honkai Star Rail characters available at the moment. Only time will tell if Dr Ratio is one of them.
