Hogwarts Legacy Gear Slots Full: A student can be seen

By now, you should be a few hours into your school year. But, one of the big issues you may have come across is the Hogwarts Legacy gear slots full problem. This is a key issue you will run into at the beginning of the game, but it isn’t all doom and gloom and there is a way to resolve it.

Thankfully, you won’t have to put too much effort into alleviating the problem. But, it is slightly frustrating to have to run into it over and over again as you are exploring the Hogwarts Legacy map. But, the solution below was found during our Hogwarts Legacy review playthrough.

Why are my Hogwarts Leagcy gear slots full?

The reason your Hogwarts Legacy gear slots are full is that you have reached the maximum number of equipable pieces of gear you can hold. Initially, you only have room for 20 items, which fills up fast.

If your gear slots are at their limit, you will be unable to pick anything else up on the map, in Hogwarts Legacy chests or while defeating enemies with some of the Hogwarts Legacy best spells. But, this isn’t an issue you will have to deal with.

How to expand and add more slots in Hogwarts Leagcy?

There is a way to expand and increase the number of gear slots you are able to have in Hogwarts Legacy. This is done by completing Merlin Trials after finishing the ‘Trials of Merlin’ main quest.

These Hogwarts Legacy Merlin Trials are effectively small challenges and tasks that are repeated across the map. You can head to them and use Mallowseet Leaves to activate them once the initial introductory Hogwarts Legacy quests to the trials are completed. The Hogwarts Legacy The Magic Neep shop should have everything you need or utilise the Hogwarts Legacy Room of Requirement.

Upon completing enough Merlin Trials, you can double your gear slots which is incredibly handy and this can be done from the Hogwarts Legacy challenges menu. While you wait to get to the point to be able to do that, you can focus on selling gear at Hogsmeade as any of the shops in the town will take your outfits and items you don’t need anymore. Simply switch to the Sell menu when talking to them.

That covers everything you need to know about the Hogwarts Legacy gear slots full issue. For more tips on gear and items in the game, our Hogwarts Legacy walkthrough has everything you need and is packed with guides.

Hogwarts Legacy has drawn considerable criticism during its development, largely due to the fact that the creator of the Harry Potter series, J.K. Rowling, has made a number of transphobic remarks on social media in recent years.

While Avalanche has confirmed that J.K. Rowling is not “directly involved” in the development of Hogwarts Legacy, it is working with “her team” and Portkey Games, a Warner Bros. label dedicated to launching new experiences inspired by J.K. Rowling’s original stories. It is currently unclear whether she will earn any royalties from the game’s sale, but it is likely given it is based on her original body of work.
