Set before all the books and films, Hogwarts Legacy brings the vivid world of a fan’s imagination to life with a Hogwarts unlike anything we’ve seen before that’s fully explorable. Though the name is misleading, the Hogwarts Legacy map size, locations, and more expand far beyond the walls of the school and features many varied locations for you to explore.

Hogwarts Legacy map size locations
The Hogwarts Legacy map size is 2.95 square miles, comprising Hogwarts Castle itself and the surrounding area, including Hogsmeade Village.

While Hogwarts Castle may appear to be a rather small location when viewed on the map, inside it is a sprawling area, filled with hallways and side rooms you can explore tall towers with lore to discover, and many, many puzzles to solve, some of which will also open more areas.

Hogwarts Legacy has drawn considerable criticism during its development, largely due to the fact that the creator of the Harry Potter series, J.K. Rowling, has made a number of transphobic remarks on social media in recent years.
While Avalanche has confirmed that J.K. Rowling is not “directly involved” in the development of Hogwarts Legacy, it is working with “her team” and Portkey Games, a Warner Bros. label dedicated to launching new experiences inspired by J.K. Rowling’s original stories. It is currently unclear whether she will earn any royalties from the game’s sale, but it is likely given it is based on her original body of work.
