Moving away from the fiery summits of the previous Helldivers 2 Warbond, Arrowhead is now taking a subzero approach to galactic warfare. On May 9, PS5 players can boot up Helldivers 2 and acquire the Polar Patriots Warbond, but don’t get too big for your snow boots, as one weapon will challenge your courage against the Automatons and Terminids.
Arrowhead’s latest offering for its interstellar co-op game gives players the tools to weather the storms of Helldivers 2’s colder regions. To aid your efforts against the looming threat of the Illuminate, or the push back against Automatons, the Polar Patriots Warbond serves up the PLAS-101 Purifier to do some serious damage. According to Arrowhead in a recent PlayStation blog, this weapon is ideal for those of you willing to risk it all and stand your ground on the battlefield.
“The longer you can hold your nerve, and the trigger, the bigger the damage,” the blog post explains. The Purifier operates similarly to the Arc Thrower, its electrifying cousin. With hordes of Terminids swarming at you, it’ll truly test your mettle – just don’t forget to pull the trigger. Additionally, PS5 players diving into the multiplayer game’s upcoming Warbond can expect a new SMG, assault rifle, and sidearm to experiment with.
Here’s what Arrowhead has to say about them in the PlayStation Blog:
- AR-61 Tenderizer: A real tentacle-tearer. This high calibre assault rifle has awesome stopping power but limited magazine size, so make each shot count. Unpatriotic “banter” shots are not advisable
- SMG-72 Pummeler: A slower rate of fire than your other SMGs, but these concussive rounds will leave your enemies dazed, confused, and still very ugly. Good things come to Helldivers who wait
- P-113 Verdict: The guys in R&D love this one. Gas-operated, semi-automatic, and chambers the largest centrefire cartridge of any lunpistol of its kind. “Rapid Deliberation”, they call it. Quick-draw to look cool in front of your squad
For those of you that love plugging up bug holes with things that go boom, the G-13 Incendiary Impact grenade will prove to be a useful piece of kit. Arrowhead clarifies that it “detonates on impact and ignites the area in white phosphorus”, so don’t linger around for too long. Although, if you happen to find yourself immobilized by any bugs, then Motivational Shocks will quite literally jolt back into action for a quick escape.
Don’t worry if you’ve still yet to finish the Democratic Detonation Warbond, or any other previous Warbond for that matter, as they’re accessible at any time. Now that’s how you bring live-service liberty to the masses.
In related PlayStation news, PS Plus’ May roster is the perfect chance to try one of the best FPS games available, and Call of Duty Black Ops 6’s reveal event may arrive quicker than anticipated.
