Dying Light 2‘s Inhibitors are important items to collect in the world as they boost both your health and stamina, making you stronger in fights, able to take on tougher activities, and survive in endgame brawls. Each upgrade costs three Inhibitors.
But, for the most part, these Inhibitors are not shown on the map, apart from when you unlock all the Dying Light 2 Nightrunner Tools and have the GRE Detector. But even then, you need to activate radio towers and zoom in on the map to see them. This isn’t possible until you get to the third act of the game, so for the rest of the time you are left to parkour around Villedor, hoping to stumble upon a GRE crate.
We have found all the Dying Light Inhibitor locations in both Old Villedor and the Central Loop, so you don’t have to go hunting them down.
Dying Light 2 Inhibitor Locations
There are 126 Inhibitors in Dying Light 2 across the game’s two maps. You can find their locations below, split into districts:

HOUNDFIELD INHIBITOR LOCATIONS
The first Inhibitors can be found during the main story mission ‘Markers of Plague’ About halfway through, you will come across it while exploring a building interior. It is impossible to miss, as this crate serves as a way of introducing you to the mechanic. This crate contains three Inhibitors.
In the north of Houndfield, you can find Military Airdrop THB-04B at the top of a building which is climbable. Open the airdrop to find one Inhibitor, alongside some of Dying Light 2’s Military Tech.
In the centre of Houndfield, you can find an Inhibitor location just outside a large, open, cordoned off area. It is inside the brown outbuilding and there is one Inhibitor in here.
The next Inhibitor can be found slightly south, in a large church tower which is accessible from a nearby roof or street level. Inside this tower, you will find a hideout, with a box that contains a safe code. Use the safe code, 101, on the safe in the first room to find one Inhibitor.
The next three Inhibitors can be found in the Center for Stage IV THV Study GRE Quarantine building. Here there are four Inhibitors locked behind the powered doors. One Inhibitor can be found on the top floor, one can be found on the middle floor, and two more can be found on the bottom floor.
A single Inhibitor location is found in the Hayward Square Metro Station. It will appear in the safe room after you turn on the power.
The next Inhibitor location, with 2 Inhibitors, is at GRE Anomaly C-A-22. It is inside the metal outbuilding which is accessible after defeating the boss here.
At the south of Houndfield, you can find an Inhibitor location in the water, underneath a bridge running alongside the river. There is one Inhibitor in the GRE Crate.
TRINITY INHIBITOR LOCATIONS
These two Inhibitors can be found in the south-east corner of the district, just west of the windmill. It is sitting on the top floor of a building, next to an open window you can run through.
The next Inhibitor is on its own in the container and can be found in the Dark Hollow loot source north of the Metro Station, along the district border. You will visit this area during the ‘All In The Family’ side quest.
At the bottom of this loot source, you will find the crate, however you will need to activate the doors with the power switches throughout the building. Use vents and immunity boosters to survive the chemical areas and once activated, you will get access to the room with the container. It is best to do this at night when the Infected are out roaming the streets.
Three more Inhibitors can be found in between the two loot sources in the north of the Trinity district. It is sitting on the top floor of a building in between both of the loot sources. The GRE Crate is easily accessible through openings.
Two Inhibitors can be found inside the GRE Anomaly C-A-05 which is in the east of the Trinity district, just next to the upside-down L-shaped border of the district. Kill the Anomaly and then enter the metal GRE building from the roof to find the crate.
The next Inhibitor can be found in the north, against the western border. It can be found inside a large complex of buildings. You can access the section of the building via a vent.
In the far north of the district you will find a building next to a hostile camp. Its best to leave this are and come here during the Revolution story quest. When you do come here, after picking up the C4 bombs from Alberto, you can find three Inhibitors in the GRE Crate next to his desk.
One final Inhibitor can be picked up from completing the quest ‘The First Biomarker’.
HORSESHOE INHIBITOR LOCATIONS
The first Inhibitor in Horseshoe can be found along the western border of the district, on the top floor of a building south of the windmill. You will stumble upon this GRE crate with two inhibitors during the story quest ‘The Only Way Out’.
The second GRE Crate has another two Inhibitors and can be found in the Tango Motel if you choose to go to visit Sophie during the story quest ‘The Raid’. You can also come back here afterwards if you didn’t align with the Survivors.
The crate can be found by exiting the building you are in, riding the zipline over to the scaffolding and entering the door at the end of the bridge on your left. The inhibitors will then be behind the door on your left again.
One Inhibitor can be found on the first floor you explore in the THV Genomics Center GRE Quarantine Building in the southeast of Horseshoe. Use a lockpick on the powered door in here after killing all the enemies to find the GRE Crate inside.
Another single Inhibitor can be found on the next floor you are able to explore in the THV Genomics Center GRE Quarantine Building, behind an identical door which you can lockpick.
Two more Inhibitors can be found in a side room next to the large cargo and cage holding room on the top floor of the building in the THV Genomics Center GRE Quarantine Building.
The water tower in Horseshoe, is also home to another two Inhibitors. These can be found in the Water Tower itself and are practically impossible to miss. You will come across the GRE Crate during the story mission ‘Water Tower’.
QUARRY’S END INHIBITOR LOCATIONS
Three Inhibitors will be picked up at the start of the second main story quest “Getting Stronger”. They are unmissable
The next Inhibitor location can be found right against the western border in the north-west corner of Quarry’s End. It is sitting in an underpass, against the corner, once you go down the escalator. 2 Inhibitors sit in this crate.
The last Inhibitor location in Quarry’s End can be found at GRE Anomaly C-A-01 in the south. Kill the boss here to find two Inhibitors in the outbuilding.
DOWNTOWN INHIBITOR LOCATIONS
The first GRE Crate in Downtown contains two Inhibitors and can be found right at the beginning of the Story Quest ‘A Place To Call Home’ in the tunnels. It is practically impossible to miss as you will walk by it in the subway tunnels.
During the A Place To Call Home story quest, you will arrive at the Downtown Electrical Station. After activating the power in the station, take the lift up and you will find the GRE Crate ahead of you, containing two Inhibitors.
One Inhibitor can be found on the western-most building connected to the Downtown Thugs Bandit Camp. You will need to climb about halfway up the building from the camp level and jump around the corners of the building. A single Inhibitor is sitting inside a safe on the red outer-building ledges.
The next Inhibitor location can be found in a small office room far above the Downtown Thugs Bandit Camp. You also visit this location during the ‘To Kill Or Not To Kill’ side quest when finding Fitz.
Once in the exterior section of building which connects the two larger skyscrapers, jump up to the room in the taller one. Here you can find a safe with one Inhibitor. The note with the code is in the next room up and has the code 313. Use the code 3-1-3 on the safe to open it.
At the top of the Downtown Thugs Bandit Camp, you can find Military Airdrop THB-1LO, which contains another single Inhibitor.
In the building south of the Downtown Thugs Bandit Camp, you can find one Inhibitor, inside a GRE Crate, a floor or two below the roof of the building.
Two Inhibitors can be found after beating the boss at GRE Anomaly C-A-79. They are sitting in the GRE Crate inside the brown outbuilding.
Four Inhibitors can be found inside the GRE Vaccine Lab GRE Quarantine Building in the centre of Downtown. One is behind the mechanical door on the first and second levels. Two more can be found behind the powered door on the bottom level.
NEW DAWN PARK INHIBITOR LOCATIONS
The first two Inhibitors in a crate in New Dawn Park can be found on the western edge of the region in an open floor of a tall skyscraper. You will come to this location at the end of the Orders story quest with Lawan. It can be found in a dark room to the right of where Lawan looks over a balcony.
The next Inhibitor can be found inside the Newalls Crossing Metro Station. The single Inhibitor will spawn in the room with the bed after you have turned the power on in the station.
One Inhibitor can be found in the north of the region, on one of the top floors of a block of apartments.
THE WHARF INHIBITOR LOCATIONS
The first Inhibitors in The Wharf can be found in the tall building you explore during the ‘Nightrunners’ story quest. About to 40%-50% up the building’s exterior you will reach a corner with a open room to your left. Inside you can find a crate with one Inhibitor.
Slightly north of that, on the north-west border, you will find GRE Anomaly C-A-83. In here you can kill the boss and find two Inhibitors in the GRE Crate in the brown outbuilding. The anomaly is located underneath the overpass.
The next Inhibitor can be found in the Waterside Metro Station. It will appear in the safe room after you turn on the power. Only one Inhibitor can be found here.
At the far south of the district you can find the next four Inhibitor Locations in Dying Light 2. They are inside the GRE Experimental Research GRE Quarantine Building. One can be found on the top and middle floors. A further two Inhibitors can be found on the bottom floor of the building.
Muddy Grounds Inhibitor Locations
One Inhibitor can be found in the King William Bridge Metro Station. It will be in the safe room with the bed after you have turned the power on.
A second Inhibitor in the Muddy Grounds can be found in the water, underneath the bridge in the south-east corner of the region.
SAINT PAUL ISLAND INHIBITOR LOCATIONS
The next Inhibitor locations in Dying Light are found on Saint Paul Island. The first two can be found when inside the cathedral during the story mission coincidentally called ‘Cathedral’.
After killing Leto and the subsequent enemies, parkour and climb up to the second floor of the cathedral to find the crate in the central room. Do not climb up further than the second floor as you will miss the crate.
Another single Inhibitor can be found at the Cathedral Metro Station. It will spawn in the room with the bed after you have turned the power on.
The next four Inhibitors are located at the THV-GenMod Development Center GRE Quarantine Building in the north-east of the region. Once inside at night, you can find one Inhibitor on the top floor, one Inhibitor on the middle floor, and two more on the bottom floor. These are all locked behind the powered doors you can lockpick.
The next Inhibitor is located at the Saint Paul Electrical Station facility, which can be found in the north-east of the region. Once entering from the roof outside, you will need to dive through water to power the facility. The GRE Crate can be found past the ‘B’ door in the flooded level below the power source labelled ‘3’.
The next two Inhibitors can be found at GRE Anomaly C-A-91 in the middle of the region. Kill the boss at night and enter the brown outbuilding through the roof to get access to the GRE Crate.
A single Inhibitor can be found in the center of the region, just against the western border. It is located in a safe in the taller tower next to Military Airdrop THB-1N4. Climb up to the top level using the handholds to find the safe with the code in a box at the top of the tower. To gain access to the safe enter 4-4-4 to open the safe.
The final Inhibitor on Saint Paul Island can be found in the south of the region, at a Dark Hollow Loot Source. Head inside from the roof to find a safe with the Inhibitor inside. The code can be found in the rooms below, locked inside another safe which you can lockpick. However, you can open it with the code 9-8-7.
Lower Dam Ayre Inhibitor Locations
The next Inhibitor location in Dying Light 2 is in the north-west of the Lower Dam Ayre region. It can be found on the top of a the roof north of the Radio Tower objective with two Inhibitors on offer.
The next Inhibitor can be found at GRE Anomaly C-A-34 in the west of the district. Kill the boss at night and you can find two more Inhibitors in the GRE Crate in the brown outbuilding.
The following four Inhibitors can be found in the THV Advanced Care GRE Quarantine Building in the centre of the district. One Inhibitor can be found on the top floor, with another on the middle floor. Two can then be found on the bottom floor and they are all behind the powered doors you can lockpick.
This single Inhibitor can be found after completing the Metro: South Loop objective in the south of the region. It will be right beside the bed, sitting on the kitchen side.
Back in the far North of this district, you can find a single Inhibitor in the water underneath a bridge.
The next Inhibitor can be found on one of the cathedral’s towers at Military Airdrop THB-4UL. The airdrop is in the center of the region, against the northern border.
Two more Inhibitors can be found in the east, at GRE Anomaly C-A-23. Kill the boss and open the crate in the brown outbuilding.
You can find an Inhibitor underneath the bridge where the GRE Anomaly is above in the east of the region.
In the Heron Renegados Bandit Camp in the south-east of the region, you can find the next Inhibitor location in Dying Light 2. It is sitting in the back courtyard of a block of houses, in a small shack with some bins. You can crouch to get inside to find one Inhibitor.
GARRISON INHIBITOR LOCATIONS
The first Inhibitors in the Garrison can be found during the story mission ‘Broadcast. When you make it to the Garrison Electrical Station, head inside and connect the power cables up so you can open the grate, hiding cable number 2.
In this room you will find a container with a Memento, which has a safe code: the approximate number of Pi. This is 3.14. Just next to that container is the safe which you can open with numbers 3-1-4. Inside is one Inhibitor.
Further on in the ‘Broadcast’ story mission, you will reach the VNC Tower. On the outside there are two brown metal outbuildings. Head inside them using your GRE Key or through an open roof to find one Inhibitor in a GRE Crate in here.
Much later on, as you are climbing up the VNC Tower in the ‘Broadcast’ mission, you will see an elevator shaft. Go up through it and to the top floor where the objective is. Next to the door you need to head through, there will be a GRE Crate with three Inhibitors inside.
At the top of the VNC Tower, after you activate the broadcast, you will start a quest called ‘The Shoe’. Before following it, walk on the small solar panel ledge to the right of the brown outbuilding. Look down to see a broken window you can drop to. Inside here you will find one Inhibitor in a GRE Crate.
Three more Inhibitors can be found in Lawan’s old apartment during the story quest ‘The Shoe’. The crate is in her room, behind the furniture.
In the north of The Garrison district, you will find GRE Anomaly C-A-78. Kill the boss here and open the crate in the brown outbuilding to find two more Inhibitors.
Just to the south of that GRE Anomaly, you can find the Dark Hollow Loot Source. Head into here during the night to find another single Inhibitor at the back of the building, behind a destructible plank.
South of the VNC Tower, you will find another tall building with Military Airdrop THB-UT0 on it. Head to the top of the VNC Tower and paraglide down to the roof of the building to find a single Inhibitor in the airdrop.
The next Inhibitor is a single one and is located in the VNC Tower Metro Station. It will be sat next to the bed in the safe room after turning on the power.
East of the VNC Tower you will find GRE Anomaly C-A-55. Kill the boss and open the GRE Crate to find another Inhibitor location in the brown outbuilding. There are two Inhibitors in the crate.
North of the VNC Tower, you can find Military Airdrop THB-NW4 on top of a building. One Inhibitor is inside the airdrop and it can easily be accessed by gliding to the roof of the building in question from the VNC Tower.
Newfound Lost Lands Inhibitor Locations
The first Inhibitor in this region can be found at GRE Anomaly C-A-56. Kill the boss here at night to access the brown outbuilding, which has the GRE Crate and two Inhibitors to grab.
Outskirts Inhibitor Locations
On the outskirts of The Garrison, you can find a single Inhibitor along the Western border. It is in a GRE Crate in the water.
The next Inhibitor can be found south-east of the Garrison at GRE Anomaly C-A-67. Two Inhibitors are in the brown outbuilding.
The next set of Inhibitors can be found in the far south of the Central Loop. If you chose to side with the Peacekeepers in the conclusion of the game, this area will be full of exploding zombies. If you sided with the renegades this area will still be flooded and it is much easier to grab these Inhibitors by diving as all the zombies are dead.
The first Inhibitor is a single Inhibitor and can be found in the north of this part of the outskirts.
The next Inhibitor location is another single Inhibitor and can be found within a large courtyard behind some houses.
The following Inhibitor is found in the large open space on the map surrounded by buildings. One Inhibitor is down here for you to collect in the middle of the area.
Next, head to the western part of the area, and you can find another single Inhibitor on the corner of a set of buildings.
Just east of the radio tower in this southern section of the map, you can find another single Inhibitor to grab.
Finally, the last Inhibitor location can be found in the small grey side-building next to the Newfound Land Military Relay radio tower. Head down to the basement and kill all the enemies to find the GRE Crate in the final room with one Inhibitor inside.
