Alongside the Diablo 4 Server Slam event, developer Blizzard Entertainment is taking the world of the acclaimed dungeon crawler franchise to a new realm: our world. Sanctuary doesn’t just belong inside the fantasy RPG anymore, as a new limited-time event means you can immerse yourself in Diablo 4’s lore like never before. However, you might need to a book few days off from work to check it out.
Unveiled over on the official Diablo 4 Twitter page, developer Blizzard Entertainment shares word on the “The Cathedral of Diablo” that is now available to check out in real life. Having “opened its doors to the public” yesterday, the unique event will run from May 6 until June 11, 2023. Though, you’ll need to hop on a plane to France to get a glimpse of the exciting marketing campaign. Diablo 4 fans who are able to make the journey to the Chapelle des Jésuites can bear witness to a series of new paintings designed by artists Billy Norrby, Adam Miller and VOYDER.
“So glad to finally share […] Very proud to work on this dream project,” says Norrby in a celebratory Twitter post. Norrby shares a few stills of his work with his fellow collaborators, depicting an array of fantastical battles, frightening enemies, and more throughout the exhibition.
The Chapelle des Jésuites has seen its cavernous space serve many purposes over the decades, with the church serving as a prison, barracks, and storage facility. However, the last service in the church was last held in 1931, before turning into an art museum in 1958. At least 20 paintings are on display currently at the Cathedral of Diablo, with Adam Miller explaining that “the scale and the speed” of the project was a thrilling obstacle to overcome.
The exhibition coincides with the upcoming Diablo 4 Server Slam event, which gives players another chance to sample all the Diablo 4 classes and Diablo 4 skill trees that the game has to offer. Packed with a lengthy Diablo 4 battle pass to progress through, the wait for the Diablo 4 release date gets a little bit easier with the next slice of fantasy RPG action.
