Lots has changed since the weapon’s first appearance, so here’s the latest news on the Destiny 2 Necrochasm Exotic weapons, including speculation on how to get it and its updated perks.

You read that right, Necrochasm is returning Destiny 2 after around six years away. Destiny 2 Necrochasm

Necrochasm in Destiny 2 is an Exotic auto rifle and raid Exotic weapon added with the return of the Crota’s End raid as a reprised item, so there are likely to be updates to the functionality of the gun.

Like Thorn, Necrochasm is a Weapon of Sorrow – a weapon twisted by the dark magic of the Hive that can corrupt the wielder, including Guardians. While most of these weapons are believed to have been destroyed, evidently Necrochasm and Thorn are intact, despite their association with destruction.

How to get Necrochasm in Destiny 2

To get Necrochasm in Destiny 2, you will likely need to earn it as a random drop from defeating Crota, the final boss of the Crota’s End raid.

In Destiny 1, this weapon originally had a drawn out quest involving upgrading the weapon from the Common-quality weapon Husk of the Pit to the Legendary-quality Eidolon Ally, before then refining it into the Exotic Necrochasm.

However, this length process is unlikely to return with the reprised version. Instead, Necrochasm is expected to simply be a rare boss drop from Crota during the Crota’s End raid. As such, you’ll need a good team and luck on your side if you want to get Necrochasm any time soon. Having the best Destiny 2 weapons will also go a long way.

With that said, there is still a chance Bungie either brings the original quest back or modifies it in some way to capture the same weapon progression idea. After all, we have weapon crafting in Destiny 2, making upgrading Necrochasm a much simpler prospect.

Destiny 2 Necrochasm perks and traits speculation

The Destiny 2 Necrochasm perks and traits are currently unknown, though we expect it to function similar to its D1 counterpart:

  • Cursebringer – Precision final blows create a Cursed Thrall explosion.

With the Crota’s End raid having several updated encounters and mechanics, it’s likely that Necrochasm will also receive a few changes. For example, it could see an additional perk or have its element changed now that we have Strand in game. Furthermore, there is also expected to be a Necrochasm Catalyst that will further improve and augment the weapon.

And that’s everything there is to know about the Destiny 2 Necrochasm right now, from speculation on how to get it, to its perks and traits.
