Cyberpunk 2077 released on last-gen consoles and PC at the end of 2020 in a disappointing fashion, mainly due to its countless bugs and glitches. Since then, many players have been waiting for the promised next-gen version of the dystopian-shooter RPG in the hope that the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions of Cyberpunk will use brute force to iron out some of the issues, while also giving those crispy 4K resolutions and a better-looking world. Luckily, it looks like the PS5 version might be here very soon indeed.
Twitter account ‘PlayStationSize’, which specialises in gleaning information from PSN’s backend, reveals a previously unseen image of Cyberpunk 2077 accompanied by an enigmatic message that has the game’s title doing the shaking hands emoji with the word “PS5.”
Two follow-up tweets elucidate the meaning of the tweet further. One reads: “I think it’s coming mid-Feb to early-March.” In case there was any doubt left, the other tweet clarifies that this is a “PS5 Native Version.” While this is still yet to be confirmed by developer CD Projekt Red, PlayStation Game Size has a track record of putting out good information.
This fits with what we already know about these newly updated versions of Cyberpunk 2077, which were billed for a Q1 2022 release. We also know that both the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions are set to be released side-by-side, so if the PlayStation Game Size information is correct, then we should see the new-gen Xbox rendition release at the same time.
Cyberpunk 2077 PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions will be released as a free update to those that already own the title on PS4 or Xbox One. CD Projekt Red’s critically lauded The Witcher 3 is also receiving the new-gen treatment. Its release date has, however, been pushed to Q2 2022.

As much as we’d like it to, it has already been established that Cyberpunk 2077 will not be coming to Xbox Game Pass anytime soon.
