Call of Duty unbans several meta guns in MW3 Ranked, but not for long

You may now stand a chance in MW3 Ranked Play as Sledgehammer introduces some fresh weapons for a limited-time on PlayStation and Xbox.

When we’re feeling that competitive edge, MW3 Ranked is a thrill ride like no other. This is where your mettle is tested in the halls of Call of Duty, and every bullet counts. If you’ve been struggling to find your flow in Sledgehammer Games and Treyarch’s sweaty playlist, then you’re in luck. New weapons are currently in rotation in Modern Warfare 3’s ranked mode, but you’ll need to use them before it’s too late.

The two Call of Duty studios, in collaboration with the Call of Duty League, reveal in the latest MW3 patch notes that the developers will “begin a weapon evaluation this week after the success of our previous map evaluation.” Right now, players participating in MW3 ranked playlists will be able to use a selection of the best MW3 guns, all of them part of a new “unrestricted” arsenal.

MW3 meta picks like the HRM-9 SMG and Holger 556 assault rifle are now included, giving players across PS5 and Xbox the bite they need to one-up their opponents. We’ve often packed one of these weapons into our best MW3 loadouts in the multiplayer game’s traditional modes, and sometimes in the battle royale game spin-off Warzone. If you’re wondering what other weapons are readily available, here are all the newly-freed weapons that you can put to the test:

  • BP50
  • Holger 556
  • MTZ-556
  • HRM-9
  • RAM-9

You’ll have access to these weapons in Ranked Play until Tuesday, April 23, 2024. This iteration of Call of Duty’s ranked experience debuted earlier this year, and currently consists of three different MW3 multiplayer modes. Battles will take place across Hardpoint, Search and Destroy, and Control, all using CDL-approved maps and rulesets.

You’ll find a mixture of familiar MW3 maps and new locales too, like Season 3’s excellent close-quarters map 6-Star. Some players will be right at home, as vintage COD era maps like Karachi and Sub Base are also in the mix.

However, if you’re looking for a different FPS game to duke it out on this weekend, then Ubisoft’s rival shooter XDefiant will soon open its door to players for a limited time only. You can find out even more about it, and the latest PS5 and Xbox games over on Google News, so be sure to drop us a follow while you’re over there.
