When is the Black Panther game release date? Coming from a fresh new triple-A developer under EA’s portfolio, this original story for Wakanda’s iconic hero is set to take us into a rich single-player experience.
It’s not unlikely that it could be one of the best PS5 games and best Xbox Series X games when it finally releases. And with EA suiting up to publish a few Marvel games, including an upcoming Iron Man game that could be open world, we’re hoping that Black Panther is one to be excited for.
Black Panther game release date speculation
We expect the Black Panther game to arrive in 2026 at the earliest, considering the game is early in development according to the EA announcement for the game. No platforms have been announced, but we expect it to be current-gen only.
The new EA-owned studio developing the title is called Cliffhanger Games. It was founded in 2021, with Kevin Stephens, who was studio head for Shadow of War developer Monolith Productions, but was only officially announced as a new studio by EA in July 2023.
In that 2023 announcement of the game and the studio itself, Cliffhanger confirmed that “we’re still in early development” of the Black Panther game, so we’d be very surprised to even see any gameplay footage of this game yet for a while.

As mentioned, the developer behind the upcoming Black Panther game is Cliffhanger Games, founded and led by Kevin Stephens. Based in Seattle, this new studio is said to have industry veterans from a range of familiar franchises, including God of War, Call of Duty, and Halo.
With the former Shadow of War head leading the efforts, and plenty of incredible talent behind those critically-acclaimed titles, it’s looking like a Black Panther game could be worth adding to your upcoming PS5 games list.

The Black Panther game will be a third-person action-adventure game with an original story for the Wakandan hero. Considering the beauty of Wakanda, and the fact that Stephens is leading the project, we wouldn’t be surprised if it’s an open-world game.
In fact, Kevin teases open-world action in the original announcement of the game, stating: “Wakanda is a rich Superhero sandbox, and our mission is to develop an epic world for players who love Black Panther.”
As for the gameplay, the Black Panther game is looking to “empower players to experience what it is like to take on the mantle of Wakanda’s protector.”
