Larian Studios continues to impress RPG fans with Baldur’s Gate 3, a game that keeps revealing new secrets and possibilities thanks to its huge amount of player freedom. Though a PS5 version is out there in the wild, a Baldur’s Gate 3 Xbox iteration is still yet to materialize. However, it might not be a long wait for Xbox players, as recent leaks claim it could be only weeks away.
The Baldur’s Gate 3 Xbox release date could be targeting a Wednesday, December 6, 2023, launch date, according to sources close to eXputer. In their report on rumors surrounding one of the best RPG games of the year, it claims that “sources close to me have revealed that the tentative release date for the RPG on Xbox platforms is December 6.” This follows Baldur’s Gate 3 related statements from the Larian Studios team, as director of publishing Michael Douse clarifies the Xbox version is still on track for this year.
Additionally, this report alleges this is an “expected release date, and the contacts whom I cross-checked with all confirm that December 6 is what Larian Studios has targeted for now.” Alongside this, Larian Studios CEO Sven Vincke recently says on social media that the “latest on the Xbox [version], [it is] being actively play tested, still on schedule for this year.” When these tests are concluded, Vincke promises that the studio will “announce the exact release date when we’re sure it’s done.”
While it still isn’t a concrete affirmation for players hoping to get one of many new Xbox games yet to release before the year closes, it is a promising sign nonetheless. Baldur’s Gate 3 released to incredible numbers earlier this year, as a previous investor’s meeting reveals that the game was vital for driving a revenue increase of “40% driven by >100% increase in Digital and Licensed Gaming revenue behind Baldur’s Gate 3 from Larian Studios and to a lesser extent Monopoly Go! from Scopely.”
The game is forging an incredible path ahead, too, with a myriad of stories emerging from its development. Specifically, we attended an EGX panel where the cast discussed that scene that got them banned on TikTok. And it isn’t just RPG fans that want in on the action, either, as Alan Wake 2 co-director Sam Lake reveals he is eager to get his Baldur’s Gate 3 story started.
Baldur’s Gate 3 is already one of the best PS5 games you can buy right now, with the PlayStation 5 version replicating the same success found on PC. If that version is anything to go by, then it won’t take long for it to join the ranks of the best Xbox games either. While the release date is still in the air, though, that leaves plenty of time to warm up your dice-rolling arm – perhaps by rolling the Monopoly Go dice if you’re playing on PC or Mobile. You should also get acquainted with the best Baldur’s Gate 3 class and which Baldur’s Gate 3 companions you should bring on your adventure.
