HoYoverse has finally confirmed when we’ll be able to get our Hollow hunting on in Zenless Zone Zero’s New Eridu on PS5. While we’ve had to wait our turn on console for HoYo’s games in the past, the exciting news is that, for the first time, the Zenless Zone Zero PS5 version will launch at the same time as its PC and mobile versions on Wednesday, July 3 at 7pm PT / 10pm ET and Thursday, July 4, at 3am BST.
Though the jury’s out on whether lightning can strike a third consecutive time for HoYo following the standout successes of Genshin Impact and Honkai Star Rail, the hype for its latest RPG game has been incredible. Global pre-registrations have already smashed the 35 million mark, and we’re still over a month out from launch. Considering both Genshin and Honkai sat around the 10 million mark in the week leading up to their respective launches, this is a monumental milestone for the gacha giant.
It’s also, perhaps, a testament to how quickly the fervor for the best games in the market has grown. Exemplifying this further is Kuro’s new open-world game hotness, Wuthering Waves, which managed to tote up over 30 million sign-ups just before it arrived last week. Unlike ZZZ though, the Wuthering Waves PS5 release date will be arriving post-launch.
Alongside the reveal of the Zenless Zone Zero PS5 release date and this mighty milestone, HoYo has confirmed that both cross-play and cross-progression will be available on day one. This shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone who’s dabbled in the studio’s games on console before, but it’s nice to know that you won’t be marooned on a console island when you first log in.
If you’re reading this, you’ve probably already pre-registered – sign-up rewards are half the day-one dopamine, after all. However, if you’ve not yet had the chance to, then get over to the PlayStation store and get it done. When ZZZ drops on July 4 you’ll be entitled to the following goodies:
- 20 Master Tapes (one of two gacha currencies, used for the standard banner)
- Corin (playable character)
- 30,000 Dennies (basic in-game currency used in shops)
- Boopons (an in-game item used to obtain rare Bangboo)
Needless to say, it’s a pretty sweet deal for simply pre-registering for the new PS5 game. Before you jump in, take a look at which characters to focus on first with this ZZZ tier list. Also make sure you keep these guides to the ZZZ banners and latest ZZZ codes in a safe place, as they’ll be handy for as long as you keep playing HoYo’s new adventure.
