Valorant FOV guide – how to change it and best settings

If you want to know how to change your Valorant FOV, along with best FOV settings recommendations for Riot Games' FPS game, then we've got you covered.

Valorant FOV: The player can be seen shooting some enemies

How do you change your Valorant FOV? FOV in any FPS is a pillar of your experience. It governs how much you see, your awareness of the map and enemies on it, and can affect your performance. And, in Valorant this is no different, especially with the high-intensity matches you can expect from the competitive shooter. So getting the right Valorant FOV is key to ensuring you pull off wins.

If you are new to PC shooters, you may be wondering just how flexible changing your FOV can be and in Valorant things work a bit differently to other games as you can’t directly change it. Instead, you have to dive deeper into the free shooting game’s PC files and change your FOV that way.

But, in this Valorant FOV guide, we will take you through all of that, including the best settings, how you can change the FOV, and more. So, let’s take a look at how it works in Riot’s shooter.

How to change Valorant FOV

To change your FOV in Valorant you need to have an NVIDIA graphics card and do the following:

  • Type ‘run’ in the Windows search bar and then enter ‘dxdiag’ into the box that pops up
  • Next, click ‘ok’ and it will open your DirectX Diagnostic Tool
  • Choose the Display tab in this tool to get to your graphics card details to see if you have a NIVIDA card
  • Then load up the NVIDIA Control Panel from the Windows search bar
  • Choose the ‘adjust desktop size and position’ setting under ‘Display’
  • Change the aspect ratio to 4:3 by altering the ‘Size’ option. Stretched resolutions can be created by altering the ‘Scaling’ option

Changing the FOV in Valorant doesn’t exactly work like other FPS games as the feature isn’t built into the shooter. But, this does offer a way to change the FOV that is about as close as you can get. It will look incredibly odd at first and take some time to get used to it.

Riot doesn’t recommend playing the game this way, and anyone using an AMD graphics card won’t have access to this.

Valorant best FOV Settings

Generally, in most games you want your FOV to be higher so that you can see more of the map and what is going on. By using the above method to change the FOV, you drop your FOV all the way down to the low 70s, which is extremely low.

The game’s base FOV is 103 according to Riot Games, which is a much better number. So, our recommendation for the best FOV settings in Valorant is to stick with the base FOV in the game.

While you won’t be able to really customise the FOV in Valorant, until Riot decides to implement the feature – that’s if the studio ever does – these options and choices do give you a lot of flexibility.
