The PS Store sale is certainly putting the ‘PS’ into ‘PSPSPSPS,’ clawing 34% off of BlueTwelveStudio’s orange cat simulator, Stray. Time is of the essence, though, as you only have until Wednesday, May 8 to bag a bargain on PS4 and PS5.
Though dog people may disagree, I reckon Stray’s current asking price of $19.79 (down from $29.99) is a mighty good deal for one of the most purrrrfect games to land on Sony’s console. In fact, Stray currently sits in pride of place on our best PS5 games list. If you don’t believe the hype, let me tell you a little bit more about it.
Stray is a cyberpunk-fueled adventure game that has your tiny Garfield-adjacent friend engage in all sorts of quirky puzzle-platforming sections as you explore the decaying city. This futuristic urban playground is filled with plenty of opportunities for mischief, but it also offers up a compelling narrative that, while ultimately falling a bit flat at the end in my view, will have you questioning what it means to be human.
On a lighter note, there’s a dedicated meowing button that is incredibly fun to spam – call that a mewing streak. Though we awarded the game 8/10 in our Stray review, I’d argue it deserves a 10 for that feature alone. Stray’s also a rare occasion where the critics and players have reached a consensus on Metacritic, awarding it an 83 Metascore and an 8.4 user score respectively.
You can check out the store page for Stray here if you haven’t already leaped to your console.
If Stray still isn’t doing it for you, then check out some of our other highlights from the May PS Store sale: PS5 newbie Hi-Fi Rush is currently down 30%, while the original Helldivers is down 60%. If you’ve just finished Stellar Blade, then the good news is that NieR Automata – a must-play for Eve enjoyers – is also 60% off. While you’re here, drop us a follow on Google News – we’ve got more picks from the litter coming up as we head into the sale’s final week.
