Bethesda is releasing a small Starfield update and Xbox players are in for a treat. If you want to take full advantage of your Xbox Series X, you’ll be pleased to know that you can now utilize a Starfield FOV slider whether you’re in first-person or third-person perspective. Don’t worry, you’ll also be able to take advantage of this new feature on your Xbox Series S and PC.
If you can believe it, just over a month after launch, Bethesda is releasing a Starfield update that adds a functional FOV slider to the game. As you can see for yourself in the Starfield update 1.7.36 patch notes, “sliders are now available in Settings that allow players using first person or third person to adjust their FOV”. We know Starfield is far from perfect, but it’s one of the best RPG games of the year and this update certainly reinforces that.
It’s also quite surprising to see something like this made available in a post-launch update; more often than not this feature is available from launch, if it’s going to be available at all. There have been workarounds for PC players, which involve delving into the game’s system files and altering some values, but Xbox players haven’t had access to such luxuries. Well, until now – this update is available on all platforms right away.
This update isn’t a one trick pony, though. PC players can also look forward to improved stability for Intel Arc GPUs and everyone should find “various additional stability and performance improvements” throughout. You should also find any progression issues with the Echoes of the Past quest resolved.
So, we won’t necessarily be needing anything like this anymore.
If you want to make the most of your time playing before the first bit of Starfield DLC drops, you can find out more about the best Starfield builds – and the best Starfield weapons to use with the best Starfield skills you’ll find in those builds – right here. An FOV slider might not be enough to make Starfield one of the best games we’ve ever played, but it’s definitely not a bad thing. You can check out the best games like Starfield here, though, if you’re already done with Bethesda’s behemoth.
