Do you want to know how to unlock the Remnant 2 Invader class? This is a secret archetype that you can obtain much later in the campaign compared to the rest of them. However, the steps are fairly specific, and you may need to reroll or play Adventure Mode just to get what you need. Our guide discusses the Remnant 2 Invader class, as well as its skills, perks, and traits.
With the game available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, you’ll likely progress further in the story and miss this class as it is fairly well hidden. This was found during our Remnant 2 review playthrough after someone obtained the class on Reddit.
How to unlock the Invader class in Remnant 2
To unlock the Remnant 2 Invader class, you need to obtain the Wooden Shiv item in Root Earth – Corrupted Harbor.
- Get the Dreamcatcher weapon in Losomn: Morrow Sanatorium – The Dreamcatcher can be obtained as you’re doing the Nightweaver main quest in Losomn.
- Progress further in the campaign until you reach Root Earth – Corrupted Harbor – This entails clearing the other major biomes, such as N’erud and Yaesha.
- Use the Dreamcatcher on the pod in the back area of the cargo docks – This will yield the Walker’s Dream consumable item.
- Defeat the Bane boss – Take out this opponent to receive the Wooden Shiv item.
As far as we can tell, the method to unlock this class was first made known by Reddit user ‘JZsweep’. However, there are several steps before you can acquire the item in question and we got it ourselves after following the method from ‘JZSweep’.
How to get the Dreamcatcher
In Losomn – Morrow Sanatorium, you’ll need to look for the three Stone-carved Dolls. The locations might be different in your playthrough, but they’re all in the asylum building. Once you have all three, go to the asylum’s basement and talk to the woman behind the door. She’s the same person who also gives you the Remnant 2 Morrow Parish Safe Code.
Give her the dolls, then listen to her clue for the safe code. Once you’re done, release her from her cell. You can then pick up the Nightweaver’s Stone Doll.
With it, progress further until you defeat Magister Dullain in the Shattered Gallery dungeon. This nets you the Soulkey Tribute, which can be used on the large cobweb in the Morrow Sanatorium basement. Once you’re teleported to the dream realm, check the cell next to the one previously occupied by the woman. Inside, you’ll find the Dreamcatcher weapon.
Where to find the Dreamcatcher pod in the Corrupted Harbor
The next step in the Remnant 2 Invader class unlock process requires you to reach the Corrupted Harbor in Root Earth. This can take a while since you have to clear other zones. But, once you’re there, get to the checkpoint inside the cargo ship.
Past that area, you should have an encounter in the cargo loading bay. Look for a side passage through the containers, which will lead you to a wide-open space at the back. There, you’ll see a pod, which has the Escalation Protocol, one of the best Remnant 2 rings in the game.
Strike the pod and you’ll obtain the Walker’s Dream item. This is a consumable and you need to assign it to a hotkey/item slot. Use the item to get teleported to the Dreamworld version of the cargo docks.
Defeat the Bane boss
Back in the open area, you’ll see a Root-corrupted aberration named Bane, which has the Skullcracker and Shocking affixes. Its attacks are similar to the regular variant, though it will also continuously summon Root Shaman mobs. We suggest using the best Remnant 2 weapons and best Remnant 2 mods to eliminate the hostiles quickly.
When you’re done, you’ll receive the Supercharger Mutator, as well as the Wooden Shiv. Return to Ward 13 and exchange the item with Wallace. This nets you the Serrated Root Blade class engram. Now, you’ve unlocked the Invader class.
Remnant 2 Invader class skills, perks, and traits
The Remnant 2 Invader class emphasizes tactical gameplay. It’s less about healing and tanking, and more about evasion, perfect dodges, decoys, and the manipulation of space and time.
The Invader perks and skills are:
- Void Cloak – Automatically does a perfect dodge on incoming direct damage for 60 seconds; each auto evade reduces this timer by 33-100% based on the damage absorbed; spawns a decoy for three seconds.
- Wormhole – Teleports your character; your next melee or ranged attack deals 300% damage. Holding the skill button allows you to highlight a location, or appear behind an enemy if that’s your target.
- Reboot – Creates a “backup” of your current health, stamina, Relic charges, ammo, and status effects, which are stored for 30 seconds. While the backup is active, you gain 15% movement speed and 10% damage reduction. If you press the skill button once more, you regain the state from your backup, while spawning a decoy that lasts three seconds.
- Prime Perk: Shadow – Casting a skill leaves a decoy that draws enemy fire, lasting for three seconds; you deal 5% more damage to enemies that are not targeting you.
- Damage Perk: Shark – Sprinting for one second or evading adds one stack of Momentum, increasing ranged and melee damage by 0.7% for 15 seconds; maximum of five stacks.
- Team Perk: Loophole – Ally ranged and melee damage against enemies distracted by your decoys grants 5% damage as lifesteal.
- Utility Perk: Circumvent – Reduces the stamina cost of evade and combat slide by 10%.
- Relic Perk: Override – Using a Relic reduces your threat generation by 25% for 10 seconds. While Override is active, your next evade leaves behind a decoy that lasts for four seconds.
- Archetype Trait: Untouchable – Increases your evade window by up to 30% at level 10.
As you can see, the Remnant 2 Invader class utilizes various tricks to avoid enemy damage, as well as enemy detection by way of decoys. Moreover, if you create a new character and pick the Invader, it automatically starts with the Coach Gun, Steel Katana, and Service Pistol as its weapons, along with the full Dendroid armor set.
The Remnant 2 Invader is certainly an archetype that you want to try out if you like high-risk, high-reward gameplay with perfect dodges and evasion. For other tips, you can visit our Remnant 2 walkthrough article and see where it ranks in our Remnant 2 best class guide article.
