Remnant 2 Hardcore explained
Remnant 2’s Hardcore mode is an additional option during character creation, which will delete your character if you die during your playthrough. However, you can select any of the Remnant 2 difficulty levels, and you’ll get some hardcore-exclusive rewards for playing too.
We recommend that, if you decide to play through as a hardcore character, you’ll want to pick the best class in Remnant 2 to stand the best chance at surviving in hardcore mode.
As a soulslike, you’ll die plenty of times in Remnant 2, which is why we recommend you only play Remnant 2 if you have done at least one playthrough of the game. Either that or you can take the challenge on if you’ve had lots of experience with the first Remnant game.
Remnant 2 Hardcore rewards
The Remnant 2 Hardcore rewards appear to be exclusive rings, amulets, gear, and loot according to several Reddit threads from players. These threads detail obtaining the Drzyr Sniper Sigil ring, among other rewards that aren’t available on non Hardcore playthroughs.
Remnant 2 has just been released and as such we have not been able to fully explore Hardcore mode, like many other players. But, we will be sure to keep this guide updated with the latest information as and when we get it.
Remnant 2 Hardcore restrictions
When playing Remnant 2 as a hardcore character, you’ll be limited to only playing with other players who have hardcore characters. You also cannot join or create public lobbies, meaning you’ll have to rely on friends who are playing hardcore too.
These limits are to keep things fair, as well as make things as challenging as possible for yourself. Unfortunately, you’re limited to players on your own platform thanks to a lack of Remnant 2 crossplay.
Should you play Remnant 2 with a Hardcore character?
Playing with a Remnant 2 Hardcore character is definitely worth it, especially if you’re up for a challenge. Considering the base game on its own can be quite difficult, having the looming threat of permadeath makes things even more intense, but more rewarding too.
If you’ve played any other soulslike, such as Elden Ring, that feeling of adrenaline when you beat a boss by the tip of your fingers is constant with Remnant 2’s hardcore mode, as at any point your character could be deleted permanently.
