How to unlock the Archon in Remnant 2

Find out how to unlock the Remnant 2 Archon class and the many steps you will need to complete in order to actually complete your class collection for yourself.

Remnant 2 Archon: The Archon can be seen

Are you wondering how to unlock the Archon class in Remnant 2? Well, so are we! This class is the last unlockable class amongst a sea of options Gunfire Games has given us in this sequel. But, with data miners and players trying to figure out how to unlock it, what is the latest on the hunt, and how and where it can be found?

Below, you can find an overview of the most elusive of the Remnant 2 classes so far. On top of that, we have the full list of abilities so you can be a spellcasting Warlock yourself in Remnant 2.

How to unlock the Archon class in Remnant 2

To unlock the Remnant 2 Archon class, you need to use the Biome Portal Key on the portal in the Labyrinth to collect the Strange Box, with the following 13 items, skills, and gear pieces equipped:

  • Explorer (level 10) – Fortune Hunter class skill
  • Invader (level 5) – Wormhole class skill
  • Realmwalker armor set
  • Void Heart Relic
  • Leto’s Amulet
  • Amber Moonstone ring
  • Anastasija’s Inspiration ring
  • Black Cat Band ring
  • Zania’s Malice ring
  • Ford’s Scattergun long gun
  • Cube Gun handgun
  • Labyrinth Staff melee weapon

The Remnant 2 Archon class has been a point of contention among players. It’s well-hidden, and previously datamined clues were unclear as to its requirements. For instance, datamined information noted that players had to be “corrupted.” That led to a search spearheaded by a Discord group known as the Cult of the Door, a reference to the glitched portal in the Labyrinth zone that hasn’t been opened yet.

In our case, we spent no less than 15 hours trying to open the portal, using various combinations and actions, to no avail. Now, though, the group has found everything that’s needed, and the requirements have been posted by Reddit user ‘MotherKosm‘.

Bear in mind that this will be an extremely time-consuming romp, one where you have to reroll Adventure Mode a few times. If you want things to go faster, then you can look for a player who already has all the requirements, which opens the portal via co-op. In any case, we’ve organized our Remnant 2 Archon unlock guide based on each type of requirement.

How to get the Explorer and Invader class skills:

The Explorer can be unlocked by beating the Remnant 2 Annihilation final boss to complete the campaign. The Invader, meanwhile, requires the Dreamcatcher weapon so you can hit a dream pod in Root Earth. You can learn more in our Remnant 2 Invader guide.

Keep leveling up these classes to unlock their respective skills:

  • The Explorer must reach level 10 for the Fortune Hunter skill.
  • The Invader has to be at least level 5 for the Wormhole skill.
  • Later, once you’ve found the other requirements, remember that these skills also need to be equipped.

How to get the Realmwalker armor set

The Realmwalker set can be purchased from Whispers in Ward 13 after you’ve beaten the final boss. However, we’ve been told that players may experience a bug that prevents these armor pieces from showing up.

If you encounter this bug, one solution is to join a co-op game where these gear pieces are already being sold by Whispers. It’s also worth noting that the Explorer has this as its starting armor set, assuming you make a new character. It also has the Ford Scattergun, a requirement that we discuss further in our Remnant 2 Archon class guide.

How to get the Void Heart Relic

This Remnant 2 Archon requirement will likely eat up the most time. That’s because of the mechanics to unlock it:

  • Your N’erud quest must be for the Seeker’s Keys.
  • You need to kill the Sha’hala boss normally. Just pull the lever and do not use the Override Pin.
  • You then need to wait for 12 hours to elapse in real-time. Doing so will make the Alepsis Taura outer space area available.
  • Do note that, once Alepsis Taura is unlocked, the rest of N’erud will become inaccessible.
  • In Alepsis Taura, you’ll be able to walk in the emptiness of space. In the distance, you’ll see the Void Heart relic. You can learn more in our Remnant 2 Sha’hala boss guide.

How to get Leto’s Amulet

Leto’s Amulet can be purchased from Reggie in Ward 13 for 1,000 Scrap. It will appear in his shop once you flop with your character 100 times.

This can be done by wearing heavy armor, which causes your character to fall on the ground if you attempt to dodge. You can equip the Leto Mark II Armor from the Remnant 2 Ward 13 Portal, since it’s got high encumbrance, then flop around the area.

How to get the Amber Moonstone, Anastasija’s Inspiration, Black Cat Band, and Zania’s Malice

Three of these rings are sold by vendors in Ward 13. One, however, requires you to head to Root Earth.

  • Amber Moonstone — Sold by Cass for 500 Scrap.
  • Anastasija’s Inspiration — Gain haste for 10 seconds when you receive healing effects.
  • Black Cat Band — Sold by Reggie for 500 Scrap. This only becomes available after your character dies 15 times in quick succession. Due to its useful effects, we feel that it’s one of the best Remnant 2 rings.
  • Zania’s Malice — Make your way to the first checkpoint in Root Earth’s Ashen Wasteland zone. There, you’ll see the ramp leading to the trainyard. Instead of going there, look for a crawlspace on the wall. The Zania’s Malice ring is in a small nook.

How to get Ford’s Scattergun

This is the Explorer’s starting long gun. To get it normally during your campaign, you need to do a Yaesha run that starts in the Red Throne (i.e., for the Corruptor boss). When talking to the Eternal Empress and her attendant, make sure you make conciliatory and respectful replies, as well as agree to help defeat the Corruptor.

Proceed onward with the main quest and eliminate the Corruptor as you see fit. You might obtain various items, such as the Thaen Seed or Ornate Lockbox, but don’t give these to the Empress.

For your efforts, you’ll receive the Seal of the Empress ring. Equip it, then go back outside to the small library (i.e., it’s to your left if you’re coming from the crystal or your right if you’re exiting the throne room). This will cause the floor to open, revealing the weapon in a hidden niche down below.

How to get the Cube Gun

This Remnant 2 Archon requirement is fairly easy to obtain. You just need to beat the Labyrinth Sentinel boss, which is part of normal campaign progression. This nets you the Conflux Prism material that’s needed to craft the armament.

How to get the Labyrinth Staff

Lastly, there’s the Labyrinth Staff, which, naturally, comes from the Labyrinth zone. While exploring, you’ll likely come across the Shifting Portal, a wormhole that has changing destinations.

Instead of passing through it, go to your left and take out the enemy mobs. At the cliffside, you’ll see a ledge below you. Drop down and a bridge will form. Continue across to reach a secret area where you’ll battle the Bastion boss. The Labyrinth Staff is also in the same area.

How to open the Archon red glitch portal

Now that you have everything you need, it’s time to unlock the Remnant 2 Archon class. Head to the Shifting Portal in the Labyrinth, then wait until the destination changes to that of nothing but empty sky and a ledge that’s further beyond. Sit still until the platform pans slightly to the right, then pass through the portal. A bridge will form under you as you’re falling.

This area also happens to be where you’ll find the Enigma, one of the best weapons in the game. Likewise, this is where you’ll see the red glitch portal. Make sure you have every item equipped, including the required class skills for the Explorer and Invader. If you do it right, you’ll see an interact button. Place the Biome Portal Key to unlock the doorway.

How to get the Strange Box

We’re heading to spoiler territory now since you’ll arrive in a place known as The Backrooms. Perhaps it implies that the entire world is part of a simulation.

In any case, this area is like a maze, and you have a limited time, roughly two minutes, to explore before you get booted out. You can still go back inside, so no worries. You need to look for a material called the Strange Box, which is in the back-left area upon spawning. There are also other goodies, such as the Bisected Ring and Gunfire Security Lanyard.

Go back to Ward 13 and talk to Wallace so you can exchange the Strange Box for the Hexahedron. And that’s it, you’ve unlocked the Remnant 2 Archon class. What a doozy, right?

Remnant 2 Archon skills, perks leaks

The Archon skills and perks in Remnant 2 are:

  • Reality Rune — Conjures a dome that applies slow to any enemy or projectile; allies inside the dome gain 25% damage reduction; lasts 15 seconds.
  • Chaos Gate — Conjures an unstable zone that grants allies 15% damage dealt and 25% mod power generation; increases the damage that allies take by 15%; lasts 20 seconds.
  • Havoc Form — Unleashes the powers of the Labyrinth to empower the caster. Lightning Tendrils – Press and hold the fire button to shoot lightning from your hands, dealing shock damage to nearby targets. This is just like the Destiny Arc Warlock’s “tickle fingers” super. Energy Shield – Press and hold the aim button to raise a shield, dealing shock damage per second and reducing incoming damage for allies by 50%. Blink Evade – Press the dodge button to do a blink teleport that also deals shock damage to nearby enemies.
  • Prime Perk: Tempest — Passively generate 2 mod power per second; casting a mod power increases mod power generation by 50% for six seconds.
  • Damage Perk: Amplify — Increases mod damage by 5%.
  • Team Perk: Power Creep — After casting a mod, 5% of the mod power spent will be regenerated by all allies over 10 seconds.
  • Utility Perk: Spirit Within — Reduces mod power requirement by 15%.
  • Relic Perk: Power Leak — Using a Relic grants 200 mod power for both firearm mods.
  • Archetype Trait: Flesh Caster — Increases mod skill and casting speed, up to 50% at level 10.

This class focuses primarily on improving your mod power and mod skills. In some ways, it’s also akin to the Destiny 2 Warlock, especially once you unlock its level 10 skill.

That covers what we know about the Remnant 2 Archon. Hopefully, it will rank in a solid spot once we unlock it in our Remnant 2 best class guide. You can find even more guides and tips in our Remnant 2 walkthrough article covering these classes.
